It is with this background that | am writing this letter. As a building principal, John was noted for his commitment and passion for his school. Among our high schoo! principals, he was the most visible within our district and across the state attending events. From community parades and civic organization activities to school plays and athletic contests, John puts in the time to show students and parents his support. John walks the talk in terms of visibility. During the time he was principal, Blaine High School thrived in terms of community perception, enrollment, and program growth. As a Center for Engineering, Math, and Science his school was part of the Northwest Suburban Integration School District and was in high demand. Blaine was one of two schools we closed to open enrollment due to capacity concems. John has experience leading a large, comprehensive suburban high school, a top quality pre-engineering rogram, and working with an integration school district. During his internship, John has been exposed to many facets of the school superintendency. He has participated in large scale district strategic planning, the detailed work of carrying out istrict plans, and the time spent connecting with employees impacted by those plans. John hhas participated in community connections at many levels from legislative advocacy and school district associations to local community connection events like “coffee with the superintendent,” “student listening sessions,” and “lunch and listen with staff.” John has been involved with many different facets of the role of a superintendent. have found John to be incredibly positive, willing to take on any assignment, and passionate ‘about learning the role of the superintendent.
