Positive Displacement Pumps - Rotary

API STANDARD 676 First Edition, Sept. 1980. par.2.4.7

For pumps with steel or alloy-steel casings, inlet and outlet nozzles shall be capable of withstanding forces and moments from external
piping determined by the following formulas :

Fx = 75D Mx = 125D
Fy = 75D My = 125D
Fz = 75D Mz = 125D

where :

D= nominal pipe size of the pump nozzle connection in inches.

Fx = force in pounds on the x-axis, which is parallel to the shaft axis.
Fy = vertical force in pounds on the y-axis, which is matually perpendicular to the x- & z- axes.
Fz = horizontal force in pounds on the z-axis, which is matually perpendicular to the x- & y- axes.
Mx = moments around the x-axis, in pound-feet.
My = moments around the x-axis, in pound-feet.
Mz = moments around the x-axis, in pound-feet.
