Thank you, Kel

Welcome, everyone, and thank you for joining

me today at the 2016 Melton City Council Star
Awards Reward and Recognition ceremony.

I would like to begin by saying that Melton City

Council acknowledges that the land it now
occupies has a history that began with the
Indigenous occupants, the Kulin (Koolin)
Nation. Council pays its respects to the Kulin
Nation people and their Elders and
descendants past, present and future.

I am thrilled to be here today at the Star

Awards ceremony to help celebrate the
exceptional contributions that you, our staff,
make to the Melton community.

Our Star Awards program enables Melton City

Council to continue to foster a work culture
that recognises and respects everyones
contribution.

This encourages each of you to work towards

achieving our vision of a proud community
working together and our values of
Continuous Improvement, Recognition,
Accountability, Fairness and Team Work.

I know from my discussions with people within

our community, that each and every one of
you provides a valuable and highly regarded
service to everyone who calls our wonderful
city home.

And for this, you should be extremely proud.

My fellow Councillors and I appreciate the

important role that each of you plays in
shaping the face of our growing community,
and in creating an environment in which all
our residents can thrive.

Your ongoing commitment to this organisation

and our residents is something that we not
only respect, but admire greatly.

Today, I extend my personal congratulations

to all of the staff being honoured in recognition
of their service and outstanding contributions,
and look forward to working with you all as
Mayor of this great city.
