A. TEST PROCEDURE AND CHECKLIST

Check that the Generator set is provided with two ground pads welded to 17-SAMSS-518

winding -to-ground by disconnecting and grounding the motor heaters,
RTD's & CT's. Test voltage shall be as per table below:

Perform Polarization Index test with megger by measuring the insulation


resistance and recording the test data. Correct readings to 50 degree C.

If the insulation resistance and PI test results are satisfactory, perform

current. Stop the test if leakage current starts increasing rapidly and Sec. 3.2

Ground the motor leads after the test and discharge motor windings. SAES-P-113

Verify the motor is ready to energize for no-load run test to measure and
record the followings:
a) Tightening of cable connection in box
b) Coupling is secured
c) Motor controller and auxiliary circuits have been tested and are

Start motor for 4 hour test run (Ref: Motor Manufacturer's Instructions)

Verify lubrication and ventilation systems are functioning correctly.
Measure and record the following values:
i) Voltage phase to phase
ii) Current in each phase SAES-P-113

vi) Drive end and non-drive end bearing vibration & temperature
vii) Ambient temperature.
Stop the test if any abnormalities occur that would damage the motor.

If the no-load test is satisfactory, perform on-load test measuring items

B. TEST EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS CRITERIA

1. Digital / Analog Multimeter for Continuity Test.

2. Digital Earth Resistance Tester for Ground Resistance Test.

3. Record wet-and dry-bulb temperatures or relative humidity and temperature.

4. Megger Tester

5. Testing Equipment calibration shall not exceed twelve months.
