MY FAMILY TREE

By Hester Sweens
Class G2B
1. Hester Sweens

My name is Hester Sweens. Im born on the 1st of July in 2003, in the hospital of Weert,
Limburg. I have no brothers or sister. The first three years of my life I lived at the Willem-
Alexanderlaan 47 in Maarheeze. On my fourth birthday we moved to the Meidoorstraat,
number 9, also in Maarheeze. Im eight days older than Sophie. We know eachother since
were born and were best friends from the start. In 2007 I went to the primary school, OBS
Cranendonck. I started in class 1/2b, there I met Sofie. Since 2009 I play hockey at HC
Cranendonck. At the moment in play in the MC1 outdoor, and I play in the MC1Z and MC3Z
indoor. In the MC1 and MC1Z I play in the defence. At the MC3Z Im the goalie. I do both
because I really like to play and I really like to be the goalie and I actually cant choose. In the
outdoor season I train three times a week, and I play one match. That is a lot and I dont get
to combine it always with school, homework and practicing piano. I play the piano since 2011
and I have two certificates, A and B. I play piano once a week at a Thursday. On Friday I go
to the Harlekyn. Thats a place where there are organized activities for people from 16 years
and older. But the problem is that theres nothing to do for the people from 12 to 16 years old,
so we decided to organize something for people from that age. I try to organize this with 2
boys, 2 girls, 2 people from the Harlekyn and someone from JongInC.

2. Joseph Louis Sweens

My dads name is Jos Sweens. He was born on the 24th of March in 1966 in Eindhoven,
Noord-Brabant. He works at Galvano, in Eindhoven as Project Manager Business Support.
He has one sister called Auk. There is one story about my dad and aunt when they were
younger I really like. It was an accident with a pan. Once my dad and aunt were in a quarrel,
nothing special so far, because thats what siblings do. But then my aunt got angry and hit my
dad with a pan against his mouth. A piece of tooth broke and he needed to fill it. When my
dad was a student, he travelled around the world with Up With People. That is an
organization that has to aim to break cultural barriers by giving musical shows. Since 1993
he has a relationship with Jolanda Kros. A thing I really like to do with my dad is cooking.
When I was younger I would always sit on the kitchen dresser, watching him cooking. At the
time I got old enough I would help him, mostly with preparing. It was called the Mise en place
but I could pronounce it well and I thought it wasnt a funny word, so I called it Milan plast,
because I thought that that was funny. Nowadays we sometimes cook together but not often,
because I dont have a lot of time because of all the training, piano and Harlekyn. Or I just
want to relax a bit.
3. Johanna Wijntje Kros

My mother is called Jolanda Kros. She is born on the 5th of March in 1971 in Rotterdam,
Zuid-Holland. She has one sister, Leontien. She has her own company, called Gazeuse. She
helps small businesses with communication, for example the use of social media. My mother
used to play volleyball. But in January 2015 she fell and she torned her meniscus. In
November she was operated. Then end December 2015 she fell again but this time she
ripped of her ligament in her knee, and now she cant play sports when you have to make
fast turning movements and where you have to jump. What makes my mother my mother is
that when Im not feeling good about something, she just tells me what she thinks, she gives
me a hug and after that I really feel better.
4. Jan Joseph Marie Sweens

My grandfather, called Hans was born on the 17th of April in 1933 in Nijmegen, Gelderland.
When I was seven he died, at the 17th of August, when he was 77 years old. He was married
with my grandmother, Loes. One of the things I remembered clearly is that when he got older
he sometimes was in a wheelchair, and if I was tired of walking I got in his wheelchair as
well. I dont remember a lot about him, but another thing that was typical about my
grandfather was that when he got a present he unwrapped it really careful. When we asked
why he always said: Now we can recycle it!

5. Louise Henritte Bouts

On the 10th of July 1934 my grandmother, Loes, was born in Maasbree. I dont know why, but
she doesnt like it to be born there. When I was younger I was really interested by the WWII,
and she told me a story that really impressed me. At the time this happened she lived in
Blerick, Limburg. Her neighbours were Jews and she was really good friends with their
daughter. One day she wanted to play with that girl, but she couldnt find her. She didnt get
what was going on. After the war was over she knew that her neighbours were deported and
killed. I once went to Blerick with her. There is a monument in Blerick where all the names of
the people that were killed in the WWII stand on. We walked by it and my grandmother told
me where her neighbours stood. I was really impressed by this story, and it made me realise
how it really was. In books things can be written, but if someone you know tells you a story
that actually happened to them, it is really impressive.

6. Cornelis Willem Kros

The father from my mother is called Cees. He was born on the 21th of March in 1954 in
Dordrecht, Zuid-Holland. He is married to Clarie. He works for Henkel. My grandfather used
to smoke, but when he came into the hospital because he had breathing troubles he was
forced to stop. Otherwise he wouldnt live that long anymore. Im really proud of him. A big
hobby is fishing. When I slept at my grandparents I used to go fishing with my grandfather, in
front of the flat. But after 10 minutes or something, I was bored and went back to my
grandmother.

7. Klaziena Gerrie Beenhakker

Grandmother Clarie was born on the 2nd of April in 1954 in Papendrecht. She likes to make
postcards. When I slept at my grandparents, I used to make postcards with her. I really liked
to do that. Another thing we did a lot was playing games, especially Rummikub and Mens
erger je niet. When my grandmother won, I always said that she was cheating and I threw
everything over the table. I also liked to go grocery shopping, however, at home I didnt like
to do that because I thought it was really boring (and I actually still think that). My
grandmother does a lot of voluntary work; she goes with the Zonnebloem, and she always
visits old people throughout the week.

After

The part of the project I liked, was the part where you had to find persons from your family.
The part where I needed to put all the information in a document I didnt like that much. It
was a lot of work, and at the end the stories got boring because I didnt know the people and
I didnt know how to make it a bit interesting. I dont have a lot of questions about my family,
because there were no odd things that happened such as divorce or something. The only
question I have is why did Gerrigje and Pieter Arie died two days after eachother.
