Parish Councils of Old Hutton & Holmescales and New Hutton

Invite you to an

Open Meeting
7:30pm on Wednesday 24th May at Old Hutton Public Hall
to discuss

Planning Application Notifications for a Power Station

and Battery units at Old Hutton
You may/may not be aware of the planning proposals by Statera Energy (a separate company to National
Grid) to build a Gas Fired Power Station and Battery Storage at Hutton Sub-station (near Greenmoor
Bank/Eskrigg End) Old Hutton. Their proposal (recently exhibited by them in Old Hutton) is to construct a new
six (6) acre site adjacent to the existing sub-station to hold a gas fired power station with 11 chimneys for the
release of exhaust fumes (15 metres above ground level), together with 40 lithium battery storage units
housed in standard shipping size containers with air conditioning & cooling fans.

There are many issues that such planning applications might raise such as toxic emissions, noise, road
access, increased potential for flooding, negative visual impact, industrial proliferation in a rural environment
and, issues related to security, etc.

The planning applications for these developments have now been submitted to South Lakeland District
Council. If Parishioners and interested bodies wish to raise objections to the contents of the applications they
now have approximately 3 weeks to do so. Time is now crucial!

To raise awareness of parishioners to the proposed developments and to gauge their opinions about them,
Old Hutton & Holmescales Parish Council and New Hutton Parish Council will be holding a joint OPEN
Meeting (see above for date and venue) where a brief outline of the applications will be provided and attention
drawn to issues that Parishioners might wish to consider.
