SCENE I
In a quiet cafe, Alice is having brunch with Rose.
JEN THE BARISTA:
Here you go, girls. A venti
ROSE:
I cant believe it. Youre getting married
in one week to Mr. Perfect.
ALICE:
I know. I cant believe it either.
ROSE:
Are you excited?
ALICE:
Nervous, more like it.
ROSE:
Really? Why? Something bothering you?
ALICE:
Not really. I guess everything is just
moving too fast.
ROSE:
No arguments here
[Rose cheers and a take a sip from her cup]
ALICE:
Haha, seriously though Ro, am I
[Gunshots fire]
[Everyone panics]
JEN THE BARISTA:
What the fuck?!

 [Bleeps out the curse]

[Enter three robbers]

ROBBER 1:
Everyone, empty your pockets! This is a
robbery!
ROSE:
Alice, Get down!
ROBBER 2:
Give up all your wallets and jewelry!
JEN THE BARISTA:
Hey! You cant just go here guns blazing
and fucking rob us!
[Bleeps out the curse]
[Robbers point guns to Jen]
ROBBER 1:
Oh, shut up! Take this and collect
everyones shit.
[Tosses Jen a bag]
[Jen steps out of the counter]
ROBBER 2:
Just do what we say, sweetie. Id be such
a waste to hurt your pretty face.
JEN THE BARISTA:
Augh, fine.
As the barista went around taking everyones money and
jewelry, someone enters nonchalantly.
[Enter Peter]
PETER: TO ROBBER 2
Whoah, what do we have here? A robbery?

 [Robbers focuses on watching the barista]
ROBBER 2:
Yeah. Were kind of waiting for this
lovely lady to finish getting everyones
cash so would you mind?
PETER:
Oh apologies, I was simply passing
through. Mind you though, Im somewhat in
search of a phone. Do have one that I can
borrow?
ROBBER 2:
Here.
[Lends Peter a phone]
PETER:
Thank you.
[Uses the phone]
ROBBER 1:
All right everyone, give everything up!
PETER: TO THE PHONE
Is this the police station? Im currently
in the middle of a robbery in progress.
ROBBER 2:
Hurry it up darling, would you?
PETER: TO THE PHONE
Ah, Yes. At the caf. Yes. In ten minutes?
Sure.
[Returns the phone to the robber]
PETER: TO ROBBER 2
Here you go. Thank you.

 ROBBER 2:
Oh sure, no problem.
PETER:
So, hows the robbery doing?
ROBBER 2:
Its going smoothly. What about your call?
PETER:
Oh, it went good. The police should be
here in about ten minutes.
ROBBER 1:
The police?
PETER:
Yessir.
ROBBER 2
Ah I see, good.
ROBBER 1:
Wait, the police!?
[Robbers turns and points their guns to Peter in shock]
PETER
Yup, The police. 10 minutes, flat. You
know waving those things around can be
quite dangerous.
ROBBER 1:
Who the hell are you?
PETER:
Glad you asked.
[Cue production number: something to distract the robbers]
[the hostages escape one by one during the production
number]

[Pulls Alice off stage and Rose follows.]
[Cue sirens as lights off]
