Comparative Adjective Rules

Below is a guide for making comparisons with comparative adjectives. For a printer-friendly version,

Note 1: Some adjectives can take multiple forms.


For example:
Simple can be simpler or more simple
Narrow can be narrower or more narrow
Quiet can be quieter or more quiet

Note 2: The word fun does not follow the normal rule for one-syllable adjectives. Fun follows the
two or more syllable adjective form.
For example:
Correct: This party is more fun than the one last week.
Incorrect: This party is funner than the one last week.
