A. Memorial Day Weekend was one of the deadliest weekends in Chicago. As many as 69
people were shot and of those people, 14 died. This only includes homicides.

B. Shooting deaths have been up in Chicago as of this year. Last year over 500 people were
killed, that number has risen this year to over 600. Gang violence and gun crime are a major
problem in the streets of Chicago.

C. This year 1,834 U.S. troops have died from hostile action in afghanistan; in Chicago, over
2,000 people have been victim of shooting violence this year alone. These numbers can
compete with those of major war zones.
Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).
There are many factors that contribute to the high death toll in Chicago, we cannot keep letting
this happen. Major cities like Chicago have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and
criminals still get their hands them. We can only blame the people in office and the American
people for not caring.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).
Chicago is a beautiful city that's home to many amazing things, like Wrigley field, but the things
that sets it apart from other cities is the lack of government interest or the very opposite of that.
We see this in history with Projects like MK Ultra and MKOFTEN. The government can interfere
with our social interaction and kill the nation from the inside out.
