1. After reflecting on your classroom last month, list at least 3 specific examples of items that are
working well.
a. The students that I have understand that I have high expectations for them.

b. Students are improving in their discipline and focus on the marching field.

c. Communication with parents, and planning/preparation are good.

2. List at least 2 specific challenges and/or concerns.


a. Certain students are having a hard time meeting the expectations that I have for them for how
I want them to behave.

b. I feel like I can be better prepared by planning ahead in the event that I am lead teacher
during a rehearsal.

3. According to the Mentor, what should the new teacher's next steps be to correct the 2
challenges/concerns above.
a. Fast-paced instruction and be consistent in how you hold them accountable.

b. Just always have a working list of areas to rehearse.

4. List a specific classroom management/behavior management strategy you have used this month that
has positively impacted your teaching and explain why.
I used push-back with a student. I asked him to write out what my expectations are for him during
class, and also to write down what he would think an appropriate consequence might be for his
disruptive behavior. He and I then conferenced about the form and talked through his responses with
an administrator.
