Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own paragraph)
A. A lot of people aka small armies of demonstrators had missed work and skipped school to
march along bustling city streets from New York to Los Angeles during a national A
Day Without Immigrants. They intended to highlight the contributions of the immigrant
community in the US. They wanted to make their point clear and well stated. They were
only trying to help themselves. If no one was gonna fight for their rights, they were.
B. Immigrants play a huge part in this countrys economy because mostly all they do is
work to help their families. If they get deported, they wont produce. This country will
collapse. Not many people can do their kind of jobs. They are fighting for their rights in
which to stay in our country to help and provide for their families.
C. Many restaurants and businesses in Chicago shut their doors because of a rally that was
held at Union Park before marching south to Federal Plaza which had hundreds attend.
The word of what was going on had spread fast through social media and word of mouth.
Social media made a hashtag #ADayWithoutImmigrants this caused for people to skip
work and school to attend the marching.
Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).
I agree with this article and with them marching to prove a point. Without immigrants would
make a big change in our country. Most of the immigrants we have come here to work and
provide for their families. It would be horrible if they had to go back and live a poor life all
because of Trump not wanting them.
Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).
I would relate my event to MLK civil rights movement only because it has the same concept.
Both events went marching up and down streets protesting and fighting for their beliefs so since
these immigrants went up the streets of New York fighting for what they thought was right.
