Introduction (Hook) The students will sit down on the carpet and we will brainstorm together about
what they think will happen in the book and predict the events.

Instructional
Activities/Strategies 1. We will sit on the carpet and make sure everyones attention is on me before we
begin.
2. I will read through the book pausing to take questions and make connections.
3. We will stop frequently going over what we just read.
4. In between each major action, I will have the students talk to their neighbor
about what just happened.
5. We will finish the story and then I will have the students grab the plot mats.
6. Back at their desks, the kids will go over each part of the story and use their plot
maps as a guide.
7. They will write the beginning middle and end of the story down on their papers.
