To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to recommend Greenburgh Central School Districts Director of Digital
Learning, Systems and Accountability, Rocco Varuolo, for the NYSCATE Leader Award. As the
PTA President, I have witnessed firsthand how Rocco seeks to strengthen communication
between families and school and also foster and promote equity throughout the district. Rocco
initiated and implemented a special app specifically designed for parents to remain informed on
district happenings, dates and events. This has facilitated easy access on our phones to important
district information without spending a great deal of time searching online. Additionally, Rocco
has partnered with Cable to provide low cost, high speed internet access to families in need. For
$5 a month, families can have online home access so that all children have internet access and
are able to research and complete assignments outside of the school day. Rocco facilitated this to
equalize the playing field.

As a parent, it is assuring to see an administrator continually acting in the best interests of the
families. Rocco has actively promoted technology and he has used his position to further
innovative technology initiatives in the district.

I welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly regarding Roccos qualities that make him
the most viable candidate for this award.
