One group of seniors had the idea
of making an old elementary school into a
daycare for students and teachers. They got
the idea from one of their friends that got
pregnant causing her to get stressed out
about the baby and money, Senior Nicholas
Muoz proposed, Our group came up with
this idea after one of our friends got pregnant.
She was so stressed about daycare and she
said she was going to quit school. This made
no sense to us. She was a straight A
student That's when we thought about a
school daycare
Nicholas Muoz, the lead presenter
said that the district could make money
through day care and save money from less
dropouts and absences. The group found out
that about 15 female students either dropped
out of school or moved schools when they
got pregnant. The senior students
interviewed 10 of the female students, and
they said they left school due to child care
issues, Junior Maggie Trainor informed, I am
that friend of Nicholass who is pregnantIf
the board doesnt pass the proposal, I will
probably drop out and get my GED. Then
maybe in a year or two, I can go to
community college.

town has a very small amount of
day care facilities and that
teachers have to drive long
distances to take their children to
daycare, Spanish teacher Delia
Johnson said, I drive 15 miles
each way to take my daughter to
daycare each morning. Its
tough... We dont have enough
daycare facilities here I would
love it. We would not hesitate to
use it.
Some students, teachers or parents dont agree or are against the idea of
building a daycare. They think its a bad idea. Some would say it sends a bad
message to high school students, Parent Coleen Turner argued, I don't
think the district should provide day care. It sends a message that having a
child while still in high school is OK. Its not.
Matthew presented this idea to the school board on May 9th, the proposal is
the same as the students but with information and data, Matthew would want
to open the new facility for 2014-2015 school year. The board would vote on
Thursday, May 22nd, Superintendent Adrienne Matthew stated, That
proposal was brilliant, and I believe the board will support it. The old school
has been under-utilized for almost two years now. We would have to do very
little modification to the building Our staff thinks that we could get the
building ready in less than a month.
We would not
hesitate to use it.
Krishelle Gibson is 15 years old and was born in Arizona with 5 amazing brothers and
sisters, an older brother , three little sisters and one baby brother.
Krishelle is currently in Journalism 1 so she can learn more about graphic design and
also to be in Yearbook 1 her Sophomore year. Her greatest strength academically is English.
Shes good at editing spelling and grammar errors in stories including writing and reading
stories. Some things that motivate her is her grades and rewards, I push myself like not to
get a treat so later I can get a better one. For example, when I save money I cant buy
anything for a long time even though I really want to buy something. But over time I can buy
something better.
Even though shes good at English , she still struggles with anything related to science.
She just has trouble with Understanding what we did that day and paying attention during
class. S he can work under pressure but not a lot of pressures, if a lot of people are
depending on her to do a lot of work she will be able to do it but she it will be challenging.
Krishelle has a lot of big challenges, she struggles with getting good grades in her classes and
also doing well in tests, she also said, I struggle with socializing in school, Im not that good
talking to new people or in front of people Even though she struggles with a lot of things
there are people she looks up to, My mom and Al Carraway are my role models, because
theyve been through a lot, for example Al Carraway was kicked out of her family because she
believed in a different religion. So both women are strong and independent women and I
admire that about them and hope to soon be like them.

s wide receiver. I am very passionate about
f football, , Ive played football for about 4 years. I
s also use to play basketball, soccer and ran track
for my middle school. I have a quote that I got from a movie
and it always motivates me to push myself and be the best I
can be and get better every day and it is One more, let me
get one more.. I am pretty good at school, not good but
decent. I get good grades and I am very responsible, I
always do my work and finish my assignments. My hopes
and dreams are to get a scholarship from football and be
able to go to college and play football . Also I want to have
a healthy family and a very good job. Im struggling with
biology Pre-AP right now, Its just I dont understand the
material and the test/quizzes are hard. Im hoping to raise
my grade, I want to be an A honored students. I have an

family, a mom, a dad and a

Even though she struggles with a lot of things there are people she looks up to, My mom and Al Carraway

When asked what it means to be independent she quietly answered, Its someone that is able
to do things on their own and a person that is ummm A person that can be able to lead and be in charge.
Then she was asked if she considers herself an independent person, she then answered with a nervously smile,
Umm no, because I cant do things on my own, I always end up needing help from someone. On the other
hand, when asked what it means to be a team-player she said that it's someone that ...helps out in a group. Is
she considered a team player? Well she answered to that question with confidence, Yes, because Im always
helping out in groups and always participating.
What is Krishelle passionate about? Well she is fascinated with, ...baking, anything related with baking I
love doing and eating. She was then asked if she was good at baking, she answered with excitement saying,
Im good at baking cookies, brownies and cakes. Especially Chocolate chip cookies and anything chocolate
related.
Does she have hopes, fears or dreams? Actually she said that she is actually afraid of ..... everything,
hahaha. Especially spiders, insects and bugs. Even though shes afraid of everything she has some hopes
and dreams, My hopes are to be able to get into a good college, but Im hoping to go to BYU in Utah. Some of
her dreams are, .... figure out what Im going to do in my life. What Im destined to do in the future. Speaking of
the future Krishelle was asked, where does she see herself in 10 years? She answered with confidence that, I
want to be married and have and happy family with 2 or 3 children.
Krishelle was asked, if she could visit anywhere in the world where would it be? She then said
Bahamas, Arizona and Utah. She wishes to go to Bahamas because theres a very beautiful pink sand beach
that she strongly wants to see. She wants to go to Arizona because thats where she was born and thats where
all her family and friends are. She wants to visit Utah because thats where she use to live and stated that
thats where my whole life is.
