Ik\ My short-term and long-term goals have always inspired me to do my best in life. 1 feel that I always continue to push myself further in order to grow as a person. I strongly believe that I deserve this scholarship due to my leadership skills, academics, and drive to make a difference, I learned my leadership skills throughout high school; in sports, academies, and 4-H. I had played varsity sports since my freshman year, beginning with being the top point earner in the equestrian team, to being a starter on the softball team. In my equestrian team, there were a lot of horses that weren’t exactly “manageable.” I tried to help by showing the owners what I knew, and by doing whatever I could for them. In sofiball, I had to overcome the hardships of being a freshman amongst juniors and seniors. | had been playing my entire life, so I deserved my spot, and I kept that in mind ‘when I was pushed around by a senior, or when the “seniority” rule applied. My sophomore year, I decided I wanted to try participating in basketball. I was helped by many friends, and when try-out day came, I made the JV team. I worked my hardest and made varsity my junior year. I didn’t get to play much, but just being able to practice and work out with the team, really taught me a lot about the game and about the importance of sportsmanship. My leadership skills were really tested that year when dealing with the attitudes of the three starting seniors, reminding them that the sport was about not individual stats, but the team as a whole. Academically, I leamed a lot about myself when I decided to take more advanced classes than I should have been in for my grade. For instance, the Calculus 1 class that I was in consisted only of seniors, except me, a junior at the time. I knew some of the kids from sports, but I was a minority in the class. I overcame the challenge of being nervous to ask questions aloud; for fear that the older kids would deem them “stupid”. [ knew that I did not need to prove myself to them, and that [ was completely qualified to be in the class. I did what I needed to do to be my best and to solve all of the problems. Also, in my anatomy and physiology class, which was also mostly seniors, I had to overcome the fact that many people did not think 1 was smart enough to be in the class, and I did not belong there. However, I knew that I wanted to be there and I had enough drive to make it. I pushed myself to do my absolute best and ended up doing extremely well. I know my drive to do well academically will get me far. I want to do what will help me make a difference. I have seriously considered joining the United States Air Force, and participating in a job in the medical field. I would be able to help protect the people that fight for our country and keep us safe everyday. Another option that I have considered is becoming a pharmaceutical analyst, who specializes in chemistry. If that career pathway was chosen, I would consider attending school at Alma College, Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, or Western Michigan University. In this career, I know I could make a difference because I would be finding the safest and most effective medicines for people. I know I want to make a difference, and I know that I will continuously push myself until I do Thave the drive and ability to succeed in life, making a difference and doing well on the way there, | am a leader. I strive to reach my goals. I take other people’s criticism and use it in a constructive way to make myself better. I follow my dreams and do not let anybody bring me down. I deserve this scholarship. Ae Many students are normal people that are no different from the rest of us. Let me just say, in every way, I'm like nobody else in the world. You may search my name on Google and find a million results, but you can only find one ME. Iam a very intricate person with many special qualities that aren’t very typical. To start let me say I am very interested in going to college and going on to follow in my grandfather’ footsteps and become an engineer of some type, or work in the medical field. I love making new things and working with great people. I live with both my parents and have had a wonderful childhood so far. But I’m ready to become an adult and take on responsibilities many students could not handle. I am the person for this scholarship. My mother runs a day care facility from our house. She watches kids of all ages but mostly between the ages of I month up until 5 years of age. I work with the children and I enjoy their company. To see them smile when you play with them makes your day. Then there are the days when it doesn’t matter what you do, you can’t make the children happy and you just have to deal with it.I try to calm them but nothing works, so I keep trying until they feel better. This shows I will not give up on anything I do. Tam a relentless worker, with a lot of determination, Determination is also something that I Jearned from doing martial arts. I practiced martial arts for 78/2 years. I started at the age of 5 and from then on I worked until I achieved my ultimate goal, which was to achieve my black belt at the age of 13. It wasn’t just my time going to karate every other day of the week, but it was learning everything and perfecting it. This took a massive amount of dedication, practice, and determination. [ have leamed many traits from my ‘martial arts training. It has shaped me to be the type of person I am today. We honored a crest which stood for seven morals a student must live by. They are pride, responsibility, integrity, determination, effort, honor, and respect. I live by the code to this very day and will for the rest of my life. Karate has molded me to become a person that’s loyal to my words and those of others as well. To also be proud of my self and family with every thing that I do as an individual. To never give up en anything I want to do because with the right mindset it is achievable. And lastly to be a responsible person who is honorable and respectful to other people and their opinions. These are key traits needed for the occupations that I am looking toward studying in college and should be found in a student scholarship candidate, Another reason I am the right candidate for this scholarship is because I am involved in a lot of community benefiting activities. I pick up trash along a 2 mile section of M-19 from Imlay city rd. to Burt rd. with my family. For some reason this stretch of road is easily the dirtiest road in Michigan. The trash pickups are seasonal as well so sometimes it is a dandy day and others are pure misery. But regardless I put in my time and effort on these pickups. I was the leader of the crew for one year and was responsible for organizing it. I set dates accordingly to my family’s schedule (which is 9 kids) and made sure we were prepared. Beside that I play in high school sports and I’m an honor student in school as well. take the hardest classes I can handle so I will be prepared for college. also get a 3.5 average and participate in Spanish club, I've also received a blue ribbon at the SC4 science fair with an engineering project. This project just so happens to be a running go kart! It is very cool to see, as a student, that | made a working machine So all in all I'm as dedicated to school and sports as I am to my family. I hope you consider me for this scholarship because I am the right candidate for it. Thank you for your time. Be Firstly, I deserve the scholarship because I have a work ethic unlike all others. At home, whenever there is a treacherous task to be done, I am the one who gets the privilege of completing it. When there’s wood to be cut, I'll go and cut it, even if it’s more than a hundred degrees out, I'll sweat through the pain and keep on going, When the garden needs to be planted [°ll work through the pain and tears caused by the heat and constant beating of the sun. Secondly, the career plans that I have for after college are finding a job in the machining /manufacturing industry. In high school now I am taking a metal machining course at the St. Claire County Technical Education Center (SCC TEC). At TEC I prepare for a two hour day only getting a fifteen minute break every Wednesday and Friday to work on the manual vertical mills, manual lathes, or the automatic CNC versions of the two. So as you can see I have somewhat of a difficult day everyday. In college I am hoping to find mostly classes that would help me to find a job in manufacturing instead of classes that won't help me find that job. My academic successes include having a grade point average of a 3.0 or higher for my entire high school career. In math classes I've kept a B and better. In science classes I've kept a BY and better. | have had previous teacher recommendations from my math teachers.
