1 October Lesson 1-First Grade

Lesson Overview: The students will be drawing


a still life of pumpkins. We will be using oil
pastels to create this piece.

Prep:

16x10 black construction paper 1 per


student

3 packs of oil pastels per table (Pack should


be a full set of all the basic colors)

paper towels can be cut in 3x3 pieces 1


per student

18x12 orange construction paper for


matting-1 per student

White pencils

Set up:

1. At each table have black paper at each


spot, pastels along the center of the table,
and white pencils at each spot.
2. Have a paper towel square or sheet at
each spot.

During:
Encourage kids to blend the pastels by using
other pastels. Watch and see if kids need any
help with anything. Once they finish, have
them look at light spots on the apple and have
them use white pastel to add highlights.

Clean up:
Put away pastels for next weeks class.

Displaying:
Please mat on yellow construction paper -
12x18. Hang in designated area.
