Post Traumatic Stress Disorder also know as PTSD is a diagnosis often given to
those who have gone through some sort of trauma and suffer from reliving the
memory in someway. PTSD originated when veterans were coming home from
the Vietnam War and had a multitude of psychological defects from the trauma
they had seen and experienced. Up until then people who had suffered from PTSD
were referred to as people with scarred memories and was not properly
diagnosed with it still exhibiting and experiencing symptoms five years after
diagnosed. Hunsley explains that in order to properly diagnose PTSD there needs
understand the examinee. All of these different forms of diagnosis have concluded
that sixty percent of men and over fifty percent of woman have all received some
variation of PTSD, making it a global epidemic. This is result is due to the nature
of PTSD, anytime you experience something in which you react with fear and feel
at risk you are opened up to experiencing symptoms of PTSD. Throughout ones

people everyday across the world. People who live with OCD know that their
thoughts and actions aren't realistic but there is nothing that they can do to top
themselves. The reason that they do this is not for their own guilty pleasure but to
rid themselves of their anxiety for a short period of time. They keep repeating
their actions over and over to try and stop the anxiety all together but that never
works so they just keep repeating the cycle of their action in an obsessive way.
These actions give way to a doorway of struggles for the person because being so
focused on these obsessions makes it hard for them to live out their daily life and
get things done. This disease tends to have a very negative effect on the people
who have it they tend to be suicidal and not happy with their lives at all. No one
knows what really cause OCD to develop but statistics say that between one and
three percent of people will develop in in their early or young adult life. If the
patient goes with out treatment the doctors think that it is not very likely the
person will be able to get over their issues. Researches thing that it's from an
abnormality in the brain structure of the people with the disorder. Moat of the
time people with OCD end up being misdiagnosed with depression or something
else and those treatments aren't what they need to get better. When they end up
getting the right treatment 60 to 85 percent of them improve in their obsessive
ways and become happier overall. The treatments are very unique and normally
start off with an anti-anxiety stimulus, then they take medications to help them as
on the patients and doctors start to see the results. The patients tart to realize that
what they are scared of doesn't actually affect them in the harmful ways that they

Lacks children was known to have had a medical disease when she was born but
no know one had the knowledge to know exactly what it was. Later when
researchers were looking back on her records they figured out that she had
my fall unconscious or have seizures. Elsie was said to be very beautiful but
everyone was either fearful of her or made fun of her, even her own dad would
make fun of her saying how she was slow or had no brain up there. As Elsie got
older she was harder to handle and it seemed like her problem had gotten worse.
She seemed to be getting out of control because she kept running away or up and
down the street. She would make these noises at people because she didnt know
or understand how to talk. It was like her mind was forever stuck as a child even
though her body grew older and mature. It was also aid that she had other medical
issues as well but we cannot say for sure. As Henrietta's condition got worse she
knew she couldn't take care of Elsie anymore so she decided that the best thing to
do for her was send her to Crownsville. Crownsville was a mental institution for
blacks, Elsie was treated very poorly there and when Henrietta went to visit her
she could see Elsie degrading. Elsie was only happy when her mother came to see
her at Crownsville she would coo and make noises at her because that was all she
knew how to do. Elsie ended up dying there at Crownsville it was not a good time
they were getting over crowded and dint have any room. Henrietta's family found
her records years later when they were looking to find out more about Elsie and
person that is dealing with its effects. You can usually start seeing signs of this
mental ailment when you are between sixteen and thirty which is a wide range of
time. It ranges between different people of when they start to notice symptoms, some
it could be years before they realize they have it. While others on the other hand it
just hits them very suddenly. Studies show that about 1 percent of adults today have
been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Doctors say that Schizophrenia isn't just one
simple disease they say that it is a bunch of different mental diseases all balled up
together in one. There a different kinds of symptoms for people when being
diagnosed with schizophrenia. There are positive, negative, cognitive, and emotional
symptoms, and none of them are good. Some major symptoms that fall under these
four categories are thought disorder, lack of motivation, social withdraw and poor
expression of their emotions. Schizophrenia isn't cause by just one thing researchers
believe that there are multiple different causes of this horrid disease for example one
is by inheriting the disease from your mother or fathers genes. Other ways include
environmental factors, chemical imbalances in the brain, and even drugs like LSD
and marijuana can cause you to relapse into schizophrenia ways. There are ways to
treat this though and normally most people have benefitted from the treatments they
and counseling. Even though the treatments help the people fallen victim of this
disease have to deal with the symptoms for the rest of their lives.
Anorexia Nervosa is a serious medical condition where the person who has it sees
their body as distorted and fat or obese and so therefore they reduce their eating
habits by a large amount or just stop eating all together. A lot of people confuse
anorexia with anorexia nervosa, which is a big mistake because the two are very
different. Anorexia is just the loss of ones appetite while Anorexia Nervosa is an
actual life threatening illness. This illness normally starts to occur during a persons
teen or earl adult years of life and has very negative affects on the person. It makes a
person very depressed and suicidal this illness is the top tree chronic illnesses for
teens today. When researches look for a cause for this illness they cannot just pin
point it to one certain cause there are many different causes and some people are
more susceptible to it than others. Environmental factors are one of the major ones,
because as children hit puberty their body changes and some aren't happy with them.
Also they could get bullied for how they look as well so this is what they resort to
and it is not healthy at all. Another factor is biological factors; researches found that
people with this disorder have a chemical imbalance in their brain with their
digestive chemicals. There are many symptoms of anorexia nervosa that are easy to
over look like cold hands and feet, dry skin and bloated stomach. These are just
common everyday things anyone could have at anytime, but there are more sever
symptoms as well. For example extreme weight loss, and loss of hair and also low
blood sugar. There are ways to treat anorexia nervosa like medication and a lot of
counseling to help the person get back in the right mindset and show them that what
they are dong to themselves isn't healthy at all and try and change the way they think.
When prescribing a drug there is not a specific one for this disease but normally anti-
depressants or OCD drugs help. People need o realize that this is a serious illness and
not something to joke about because it is affecting peoples lives in a negative way
everyday.
