Japans basic demographics and characteristics are, Population, Major language, Major religion,
average household income, and type of government. The population is 127,110,047 people. It is
the tenth most populated country. The major language is Japanese. The major religion is
buddhism. The average household income is 38,731 per capita. The type of government they
have in Japan is Unitary Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy. They have an emperor but he
is there primarily for ceremonial purposes. A prime minister is actually in charge of the
government.
Japans location in relation to the U.S. is South east or far west.
5 famous landmarks in Japan are The Hiroshima Peace Memorial, Mount Fuji, The
Golden Pavilion, Tokyo Tower, and Himeji Castle. Hiroshima Peace Memorial is a memorial that
pays tribute to all the lives lost on August 6, 1945 due to the Atomic Bomb. Mount Fuji is the
highest mountain in Japan (3,776 meters or 12,388 feet). 200,000 people climb it each year.
The Golden Pavilion is the most popular tourist attraction in Japan and Kyoto. Originally
supposed to be a retirement villa but it was burned down. Tokyo Tower is a testament to the
advancement of technology and modern life, inspired by the Eiffel Tower. It is the second tallest
manmade structure. The Himeji Castle is the best existing example of japanese castle
architecture. It was made to defend against enemies during the feudal period.
Some interesting facts about Japan are, Japan is made up of 6,852 islands.Japanese
name for Japan is Nihon or Nippon which means sun origin. Japan has more than 200
volcanoes and more than 70% of Japan consists of mountains. Sumo is Japans national sport
although baseball is very popular. 1,500 earthquakes every year in Japan.
Japan is the leading country in robotics.
