Hull Pressure Calculation

Hull pressure is calculated by dividing the reaction force of fender with flat surface of frontal frame.

P = R/A Pa

P = Hull pressure
R = Rated reaction force of fender
A = Flat area of frontal frame
Pa = allowable hull pressure

Allowable hull pressure (PIANC)

For Oil Tankers

2
60,000DWT:< 300 kN/m
2
>60,000DWT:< 350 kN/m

For VLCC
2
Gas carriers (LNG/LPG): < 200 kN/m
2
Bulk carriers: < 200 kN/m

Fender Used:

PCD = 2000 mm

Rated reaction force of fender 2942 kN

Dimensions of Fender Frame

W (m) H (m) We (m) He (m) W = Frontal frame width

3.200 5.100 3.200 4.800 H = Frontal frame height
We = Effective width
L1 (Hor) = 1.55 m He = Effective height
L2 (Ver) = 0.6 m

2
Area Provided = 15.36 m
2
Pressure = 191.5 kN / m

Pressure < 200kN/m2, Panel face pressure is within allowable hull pressure
