INTRODUCTION
INVOCATION
Todays festival derives its name from the Jewish festival of Pentecost,
observed fifty days after Passover. On the fiftieth day of Easter we In the name of the Father, and of the (+) Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
celebrate the Holy Spirit as the power of God among us that heals, Amen.
forgives, inspires, and unites. In the reading from Acts, images of wind and
fire describe the Spirit poured out on disciples of all nations. In Johns GATHERING SONG: Spirit of Gentleness (ELW 396)
gospel the risen Christ breathes the Spirit on his followers on Easter
evening. In the one Spirit we are baptized into one body, and at the Lords GREETING
table the Spirit unites us for witness in the world.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of

PRAYER UPON ENTERING THE PEW

God our creator, the resurrection of your Son offers life to all the peoples of
earth. By your Holy Spirit, kindle in us the fire of your love, empowering
our lives for service and our tongues for praise, through Jesus Christ, our
Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one
God, now and forever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY

Let us pray.
O God, on this day you open the hearts of your faithful people by sending
into us your Holy Spirit. Direct us by the light of that Spirit, that we may
have a right judgment in all things and rejoice at all times in your peace,
through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

When the day of Pentecost had come, [the apostles] were all together in

CREEDAs they recite the creed, worshippers are invited to bow beginning
with the words born of the Virgin Mary, until the words he descended to
the dead.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and
earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally
begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he

Moved by the Holy Spirit, we pray for the life of the church, the lives of
people in need, and the life of all creation.

With this bread and cup we remember our Lords passover from death to
life as we proclaim the mystery of faith:

O God of resurrection and new life: Pour out your Holy Spirit on us and on
these gifts of bread and wine. Bless this feast. Grace our table with your
presence.
Come, Holy Spirit.

Reveal yourself to us in the breaking of the bread. Raise us up as the body

of Christ for the world. Breathe new life into us. Send us forth, burning
with justice, peace, and love.

SENDING OF HOLY COMMUNION

O God of tender compassion, as you healed the sick and welcomed the
stranger, bless those who leave this assembly to share the gifts of this table
with our sisters and brothers who are sick/homebound/imprisoned. May
they be sustained by the love and prayers of this community, and by the
Bread of Life that satisfies all hunger, Jesus Christ our Lord. example, the gifts and Fruits of the Spirit. Red flowers at the

church are also typical decorations for Pentecost masses/services. These
BLESSING symbolize the renewal of life, the coming of the warmth of summer, and the
