An Act to Ordain and Institute a National Building Code of the Philippines

CHAPTER 1
National Building Code of the Philippines
Provisions shall apply to DESIGN, LOCATION SITTING, CONSTRUCTION,
ALTERATION, REPAIR, CONVERSION, USE, OCCUPANCY, MAINTENANCE, MOVING,
DEMOLITION OF, AND ADDITION to public and private building

CHAPTER 2 - Adm

Building Official

Qualifications of Building Officials

Exemption from payment of building permit fees on Public building and


traditional indigenous family dwellings

Violation of code provisions shall be imposed by fine

CHAPTER 3 -
No person, firm or corporation or such shall construct or such without first
obtaining building permit from the BO assigned in the place where the building
would be located

Application for Permits

Issuance of Building permit upon payment by the BO

Validity and void of Building Permit

Non-issuance, suspension or revocation of Building Permits


Appeal

Such architect or civil engineer may or may not be the same architect or civil engineer
who is responsible for the design of the building

No building shall be used or occupied and no change in the exisiting use

CHAPTER 1 - General Provisions

until the BO has issued a Certificate of Occupancy

CHAPTER 4 - Types of Construction

Wood construction

Wood construction with protective fire-resistant materials.

Masonry and Wood

Steel, iron, concrete or masonry construction

Shall be fire-resistive

CHAPTER 7 - Occupancy
Residential Dwellings

Division 1 - Mental Hospitals, Sanitaria, Jails, Prison, reformatories, and


buildings where personal liberties or inmates are similarly restrained

Division 2 - Hospitals, full-time care of children under kindergarten age,


sanitaria, nursing home with non-ambulatory patients, and similar
buildings each accommodating more than five person

Division 3 - Nursing home for ambulatory patients, homes for children of


kindergarten age or over, each accomodating 5 person or more.
Divison 1 - Gasoline filling and service stations, storage garages and boat
storage strucures, or the use of highly flamable liquids.
Divison 2 - Wholesale and retail stores, office buildings, drinking and
dining establishments having occupant load less than 100 persons,
printing plants, police and fire stations, factories and workshops using
not highly flammable or combustible materials and paint stores without
buld handlings

Division 3 - Aircraft hangars and open parking garages where no repair


work is done except exchange of parts and mainenance requiring no pen
flame, welding or theuse of highly flammable liquids

ice plants, power plants, pumping plants, cold storage and creameries,
factories and workshops using incombustible non-explosive materials, and
storage and sales rooms for incombustible and non-explosive materials.

Division 1 - Storage and handling of hazardous and highly flammable


material
Divison 2 - Storage and handling of flammable materials, dry cleaning
plants using flammable liquids; paint stores with bulk handling, paint shops
and spray painting rooms.
Division 3 - Wood working establishments, planing mills and box factories,
shop factories where loose combustible fibers or dust are manufactured,
processed or generated; warehouse where highly combustible material is
stored.
Division 4 - repair garages.
Division 5 - Aircraft repair hangars
Division 1 - Assembly with stage occupant load less than 300
Division 2 - Any assembly with occupant load more than 300
Division 3 - Any assembly building without stage having an occupant load
less than 300
Division 4 - Stadia, reviewing stands, amusement park structures not
included within Group I or in Division 1, 2 and 3 of this Group

Division 1 - Private garage, carports, sheds and agricultural buildings

Division 2 - Fences over 1.80 meters high, tanks and towers
