PSL Activity Center Plan

Weekly Education Goals:

words

Activity Type:
Manuscript

Center Objectives:
Given a word, the kids will be able to write it.
Given a picture, the kids will be able to design the picture to make it unique to them.

Pennsylvania Standards:
1.4.2- Informational: Share information through pictures and dictated words
9.1c.2- Construction: Combine a variety of materials to create new products

Materials:
-6 of each pirate picture
-Paint
-19 Paint brushes
-Feathers, googly eyes, glitter, etc.
-19 pencils

Center Introduction:
I would first ask them if they knew what the theme of the week was. I would then
hold up a picture of the letter P and ask them if they knew what letter it was. I would
then explain the directions of the activity.

Activity Procedures:
1. Pick one of the pictures
2. Trace the word at the bottom
3. Color and decorate the picture
Questions
1. What picture did you choose?
2. What does the word say?
3. What color are you painting your picture?
4. How else are you decorating your picture?
5. What does a pirate usually wear?

Center Wrap-up:
Once everyone is done decorating their picture, I will hold up one of the words and
ask them what it says.

Transitions:
6 children per group
Separated by age (3 year olds, 4 year olds, and 5 year olds)
