Description: Sylvan Learning Center provides tutoring for students of all ages and all levels of
learning. Reading ,writing, and math tutoring is a specialization, as well as provided students
with organizational skills and study skills that best fit their learning style. STEM and EDGE

Description: Lamar State College Port Arthur Career Services provides individuals in college
and those seeking a future college education with resources to help them plan and become
successful. SAT and ACT preparation is provided as well as programs of study, interest
inventories, and contact with an educational guidance counselor. Financial aid information is
also provided through the department and the website.

Description: Lamar University Career and Professional Development Center helps students and
adults with their career interests and needs. Programs of study and study help programs are
available, as well as career information and rehabilitation services. Through the department,
individuals can connect through job fairs, community gatherings, job seek to find the career that
best suites them. Services such as resume writing and interviewing techniques are provided.
Description: Nederland ISD prides itself with providing students with a quality education that
can help them be successful beyond high school. Through the Career and Technical Education
department, students can connect their interests with future careers and prepare themselves in
high school for the working world after graduation. Through close mentoring and opportunities

Description: Alkisha Parker, LPC, provides individualized counseling services to all ages. She is
a certified play-therapist and works with young children who have diagnosed disabilities and
mental illness. Alkisha specializes in cognitive-behavioral therapy and helps students with social
skills and behavioral coping skills.
Description: The center serves children and adolescents who have serious, emotional and
behavioral problems that cause significant disruption in their lives. The target population ranges
in ages from 3 to 17. For children and adolescents who need more intensive services, staff offer
social, emotional and behavioral skills training by Community Support Service Providers in the
consumer's home and school environment.
Description: Dr. Donna Farrell works with Nederland Independent School District and is the
diagnostic assessment coordinator and facilitator for students under the special education
program. She also works outside of the district providing diagnostic assessments to parents for
students who may benefit from being enrolled in a special education program.
Description: Dr. Goldbeck specializes in academic services for students with developmental
disabilities. Dr. Goldbeck also provides diagnostic assessments and provides a written report to
parents for help in expediting special education services in the school district. She provides
guidance counseling, including study skills, tutoring, and emotional and behavioral counseling
for anxiety and other mental illness.

Description: Lamar University Speech and Hearing clinic offers speech and language therapy for
children and adults. The clinic operates as a fully functioning clinic with practicing interns and
certified Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists. The clinic serves to help young
children and adults master their speech and hearing difficulties to live a more successful life. The
clinic accepts most insurances and also works on a sliding cash scale.
Special Needs
Description: ARC of greater Beaumont seeks to create possibilities for those with intellectual
and developmental disabilities grow, live, and learn and become contributing members of society
and an integral and valuable members of the community. ARC of GB provides family and
childrens services, as well as adult services that include day camps, support groups for families,
educational programs and grants, and referrals and information for state services.
Description: Buckner Children and Family Services provides families with educational services
to help educate themselves on how to best serve their family and keep themselves together. After
a CPS report has been filed, parent education can be provided to families in an attempt to
rehabilitate and educate instead of remove children from the home. Through services provided,
families can become stronger and self-sufficient. Parent and family educators help families to
locate housing, career, child care, and rehabilitative services.

Description: PATH is a federally funded parent education program that seeks to help parents of
students with disabilities ages 0-26. PATH seeks to educate parents about their childs disability,
the rights of the child under federal law IDEA, obtain and evaluate resources for the child, and to
fully participate in educational planning services for the child at the school they attend. PATH is
a free educational service provided to parents and advocates can also aide the parent in
educational planning meetings, such as ARDS.
