TRINITY HEIGHTS, a designa-
tion once given to most of the
areas in South Oak Clif, is a
vanishing name,
Civle and business leaders of
the vast area that now covers
the region included in old Trinity
Helghts, Lisbon and more recent
additions is naw known as South
Oak CHI, This region begins at
the Santa Fe Railroad and extends
to Beckley Heights and farther
south,

Cliff civle Jeaders like B, 0. Snel+
en, past president of the South
Oak Cliff Kiwanis Club, and T. A,
Vines, a Vice-president of the Oak
Clift Chamber of Commerce,

OLD TRINITY HEIGHTS was a

about 1912 by a syndicate headed
by G, G. Woodin,

Rordon and W, B. Johnson, the
latter becoming the Dallas repre

first. public schoal In Trinkty
Heights was opened in 1933 wilh
Miss Eugenia Balch as its teacher,
She later married W. B, Johnson,

and others interested in obtaining
for South Oak Cliff a senior high
choo! started referring to the
areas south of the Santa Fe rail-
road as South Oak Clitf,
The name of the Trinity Heights
Elementary School was’ recently
changed to the Harold Budd Ele
mentary School. Only a few years
Ago a senior high echoo) was built
in the area known as Trinity
Jicights, but it was named the
South Oak Clift High School,
The South Oak Clift area ine
cludes Elmwood, Wynnewood and
the A, Harris Shopping Center,
It has some of the finest resi«
dences in Texas,
Development in South Oak Clift
has spread far south of Old Lisbon
and to the southwest of Oak Clitt
proper,
The southwestern part of South
Oak Clit only a few yeara ago
Was farming area, It was here
that the Old Jimtown Road once
tan from Duncanville to Old Jim-
town,
This road no longer exists exe
cept In the memory of old-timers.
In its place is Hampton Road

OLD-TIMERS still remember the
carly days of the addition and
until recently a niume Jn concrete,
Trinity Heights High School, was
at the entrance to what is now
the Harold Budd Elementary
School.
Trinity Heights was annexed to
Dallas in about 1926, Annexation
of Lisbon soon icllowed, Lishon,
in deep South Oak Cliff, once was
an independent city with a mayor,
Police department and a post of
five, That was at the turn of the
