I went to the musical Cats on Friday March 12, 2010. My cousin Bailey was in the play at
Viewmont High School so we decided to go see her perform in it. There were thirty students as
the principal cast members, and about sixty or more Ensembles. Bailey, my cousin was an
ensemble.
In Act One they played ten songs. One of them was The Old Gumbie Cat. It was
Those are the cats from the play if you didn’t know; the real composer is Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Also in Act One they performed Grizabella the Glamour Cat. That was performed by Grizzabella
In Act Two they performed thirteen songs. One of them was Italian Aria, performed by
Growltiger and Griddlebone, composer being Andrew Lloyd Webber. Another song performed
in Act two was Memory the cats singing that one was Jemima and Grizabella. The composer of
This one is my favorite because it was performed very well. I like the song too it is a very
famous song and many people know it. The song has a
slow tempo which kind of makes you calm down and the performers did an amazing job.
My least favorite was Gus: The Theatre Cat, performed by Jellylorum and Gus. I didn’t
like it because it was sad. I meant the old cat Gus is very old and used to be famous and now he
is isn’t because he is getting old. I also did like the song itself I think it was just too blah like
and sang very well. They all had good vocal skills and could really belt out the song. I could
understand what they were singing and knew exactly what was going on. I thought they did
great.
I absolutely loved the costumes! They were so creative and they looked a lot like cats
which was what you wanted them to look like. The length of the concert was kind of long but it
was good. At least they had an intermission. The audience was very respectful and clapped after
every song and they weren’t getting distracted by cell phones or anything like that.
The play Cats is a very good play. The performers did an awesome job. There were only
a few pitchy parts and some mess ups but all in all it was amazing. The costumes were incredibly
done and stage presence was great. I liked all of the songs and dances. It was kind of long but it
was okay because it was mostly exciting the whole time. I would suggest this play to people
defiantly, even if you don’t like cats. I am a dog person but I really liked this play and anybody
