The following table displays some selected characteristics for Australia based on the information collected in
the 2011 census. Study the table and answer the questions given below:

1. What was the total population of Australia on census day 2011?

10 634 013 + 10 873 704 = 21 507 717
2. Express the male and female population as a proportion of the entire population. Give
your answer as a fraction and a percentage.
Males: 10634013
215077
17
Percentage = 49.4%

Fraction = 10634013
21507717

3. What percentage of the population speaks English and another language?

English : 16509291
21 507 717

= 76.8%

Another language: 5000426

X 100
= 23.25 % 215071
7
4. How many people were aged 14 years and younger?
17363694 + 3012289 -
21507717

= 1131734
The table below shows the same
characteristics from the first table, but it
relates to NSW only. Study the table and
answer the questions given below:

5. What percentage of the total

Australian population lives in
NSW?
3408878 + 3508780 X 100
21507717
= 32.163609
6. Study the statistics of The Hills Shire and Parramatta council from the 2014 census.
Answer the questions below based on your findings.
Questions Parramatta The Hills Shire
% of Australian 222,292 156,505
Population
Persons per Hectare 419 38,640
% of all the registered 201,436 133,570
vehicles in Australia

7. Reflect on how the population has changed from 1901 to 2015. Focus on the total
population, Number of births, Life expectancy and the median age. What is the
current poplation of Australia (Word Limit: 300 400 words)

So, what I think or should I say got from the population of 1901 is 3,773,801 and I
think that the population in 2015 is 23,968,973 and that is a massive difference in
time and population because they have change by 20195172 and I think that is a very
big change. Another thing is how I worked that out I had done that very easilly, so
first I had put the 2015 population together and then minused it by the 1901 year
population and then that is ho I got my answer. I think that I Australia has grown a lot
because it has grown by almost 21 million people and that is just really a big change.
And right now the current population of Australia is 24 million and that is really
going well So that is what I think about this part of the task

Thank you
