Special skills required for Teacher Students in the Faculty of Fine Arts from
the viewpoint of faculty members and workers in the field of Education in
Gaza Strip governorates
This study aimed at identifying the special skills required for teacher students
in the Faculty of Fine Arts from the This study aimed to identify the special skills
required of teachers to students in the Faculty of Fine Arts from the viewpoint of
faculty members and workers in the field of education governorates of the Gaza
Strip, and the study was based on answering the following questions:
- What are the special skills required for teacher students in the Faculty of Fine
Arts (Art Education Major) from the viewpoint of faculty members and
workers in the field of Education?
- How significant is identifying and categorizing specific competencies required
for teacher students in the Faculty of Fine Arts (Art Education Major) from the
viewpoint of faculty members and workers in the field of Education?
To answer the questions, the researcher has used the descriptive analytical
method with the assistance of the questionnaire as a tool for the study after
confirmation of the validity and reliability on a pilot with workers in the field of
Education and the faculty between the academic year 2014 and 2015. There were
(12) workers who represent the total sample which is (406) of the faculty members
in the College Fine Arts (Majoring in Art Education) and workers in the field of
Education from supervisors of Arts and Crafts (Government - UNRWA) and
teachers of Arts and Crafts in schools (Government - UNRWA Private), aiming at
developing a list of competencies necessary for teacher students in the Faculty of
Fine Arts.
Through theValidation of the Hypotheses, the following was outputted:
- The teaching skills necessary for teacher students in the Faculty of Fine Arts
for the pilot participants in Gaza strip governorates is estimated (39.3%) of
significance, while the Teaching Evaluation comes at the highest levels of
teaching skills for the necessary teacher students at the Faculty of Fine Arts
with (40.3%), followed by Teaching Planning with (39.4%), while the lowest
ranking comes The Implementation of Teaching with (38.4%).
- Necessary related to majors competencies toteacher students in the Faculty
of Fine Arts for pilot participants in governorates of the Gaza Strip are
(40.4%), The History of Art comes as the highest levels of competencies
for with teaching evaluation so as to improve the level of students and thus
realize the optimal use of guidance for students.
- Adequacy of the History of Art due to the contact with the Palestinian
heritage and its relation to the Historical Land and its treasures.
Proposals:
- Paying attention to the list of Major and Teaching skills and approving them
as a referenceto improve the university registration require ments by
including theminthe university registrationtests (aptitude test) at the Faculty
of Fine Arts (specializing in Art Education).
- Benefiting From the list of Majoring competencies for Art Education major
from other majors at the Faculty of Fine Arts (photography, decor) due to the
rapprochement between the three majors including certain with courses,
through paying attention and working ongiving students majoring in
Photography and Decorative the necessary competencies.
- Working on holding training courses for teacher students and working
teachers on Specialized Teaching and many areasin order toincrease
awareness, exchange experiences and development of these technical and
teaching abilities on the same level.
- Conducting detailed studies interms of the list of specialized competencies,
especially for teacher students due to the scarcity of studies in this area.
- Including DBAE fields in the students' educational curriculain schools as
well as at the Faculty of Fine Arts with its three majors (Art Education,
Photography, and Decor) and keep up with what is the new in them.
- In light of the results of the study, a set of recommendations and proposals
has been put, and the most important are as follows:
Recommendations:
- Employing a listof teaching and majoring skills as an important reference to
accept students in the Faculty of Fine Arts (specializing in Art Education
Major), and the development of admitted students.
- Promoting teachers student in accordance with their educational needs with
the help ofa list of the current competencies.
- Dependingon the list of competencies to improve the academic requirements
for admission.
- Continuous follow-up for every new thing in the fields of DBAE to promote
the level of teacher students (specializing in Art Education) and the
graduation of qualified teachers.
- The need to focus on the adequacy of the teaching evaluation as a necessary
competency which stands for assessing students' abilities and awareness
regarding their majors, where it is a must to work on the Acquistion of
teacher students at the Faculty of Fine Arts (specializing in Art Education) of
this ability to proper assessment and streng then sufficiently through
promoting it through paying attention to both competencies of History
Artand Art Criticism to integrate their functions
