What is the format of the exam?

The exam will include the following sections: Multiple choice, vocabulary fill-in-the-blank, rhetorical analysis,
and an argumentative essay.

How can I study for this exam?

Look over all of your notes! Especially those about rhetoric and the Russian Revolution.
Review the major characters and events from Animal Farm and Julius Caesar.
Review all old quizzes to review the literature, vocabulary and historical context we worked on for this class.
Practice defining and using the vocabulary words. You should know their definition as well as how they can be
used in sentences.
Re-read Old Major's speech in Animal Farm and analyze it for rhetorical techniques. How does Old Major use
logos, pathos and ethos to persuade the other animals?
Review how to write an argumentative essay. Know what a counterclaim and rebuttal are and how to use them!
Make sure that you know how to create a thesis statement.
