ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT ANALYSIS (ELE 201)

Time: 3 hours Max. Marks: 50
Note : Answer any FIVE full questions.
Missing data, if any, may be suitably assumed.

1A. Sketch the waveform represented by

v(t) = 2r(t) +r(t-2)+2u(t-4)-6u(t-5)-4r(t-7)+r(t-12)-8u(t-14). Find and sketch its first derivative. (03)
1B.
For the waveform shown in Fig. 1B., plot f (t )dt
(02)
1C. In a RL RC parallel circuit, RL=50, RC =20, XL =20 and Xc varies over wide range. If the
applied voltage is 200V, draw the current locus diagram and hence determine the values of Xc
for u.p.f currents. (05)
2A. In the network shown in Fig. 2A., the resistance in the branch 10 is changed to 20. Verify
compensation theorem. (05)
2B. Find Vo in the network shown in Fig. 2B.using superposition theorem. (05)
3A. For the circuit shown in Fig. 3A determine the expression for voltage v1 for t > 0, using time
domain analysis. (05)
3B. For the circuit shown in Fig. 3B, obtain i(t) for t>0 using time domain analysis. (05)
4A. Find the Laplace transform of a periodic half wave rectified sine wave with amplitude E volts
and period 2 . (03)
4B. State and prove initial and final value theorems. (03)
4C. In the circuit shown in Fig. 4C, switch is opened at t=0, after steady state has been reached.
Find expressions for voltage across capacitor and i(t) for t>0. Use transform method.
(04)
5A. 1
Find the inverse Laplace transform of F(s) = using convolution integral.
( s + 1)( s + 2 s + 2)
2
(03)
5B. Find the residues by pole zero plot and hence find f(t) for
s 2 +1
F(s) =
s ( s 2 + 2) (04)
5C. Determine the driving point admittance function Y11 for the network shown in Fig. 5C. (03)
6A. Define h and T parameters. Derive expressions for h parameters in terms of T
parameters. (05)
6B. For the networks shown in Figs.6B (i), 6B (ii) and 6B (iii) find T parameters and also
determine the T parameters of the overall network if the three networks are connected in
cascade in the same order. (05)
