A Magic Square is a square that is divided into smaller squares, filled with numbers, such that the

figures in each vertical, horizontal, and diagonal row add up to the same sum.

Arrange these nine numbers into the small squares of the 3x3 matrix so that all sums equal.

The numbers being used are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45

First find the sum of the numbers provided

5+10+15+20+25+30+35+40+45 = 225/3 = 75
The sum of the nine numbers is 225, when working with a 3X3 magic square you divide the sum by 3.
After you divide the numbers you will get 75. This means that all columns, rows, and diagonals should
add up to 75.

Finding the combinations: Take the largest number and smallest number and find the sum, the
middle number should be the difference to 75 then do it with the 2nd smallest number and so on.

The 8 combinations being used are:

45+25+5 =75

45+20+10 =75

40+30+5 =75

40+25+10 =75

40+20+15 =75

35+30+10 =75

35+25+15 =75

20+30+25 =75

Placing the numbers in the Magic Square

Number 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45
# of time 2 3 2 3 4 3 2 3 2
used in the
equations

Notice that there is a sequence happening 2, 3, 2,3,4,3,2,3,2. The

number used the most is 25 therefore you want to put 25 in the
middle notice numbers 10,20,30,40 are used 3 times therefore
you want to put those on the corners. 5,15,35,45 are used 2
times so you fill those in so that the sums of all 3 numbers is 75.

10 45 20

35 25 15

30 5 40
