Magic Square

The chosen numbers are any consecutive series of 9 multiples of the number 20.
The numbers used are:
20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28
You add all nine numbers and get a total of 216. Then you divide 216 by 3 because its a
3X3 matrix, which gives you the magic number of 72. This means that when you add all the
columns, rows, and diagonals, they will add up to 72. This is a pattern that follows any series of
9 numbers chosen for a 3X3 matrix.

The eight combinations used are:

28 + 24 + 20 = 72
28 + 23 + 21 = 72
27 + 24 + 21 = 72
27 + 23 + 22 = 72
27 + 25 + 20 = 72
26 + 24 + 22 = 72
26 + 25 + 21 = 72
25 + 24 + 23 = 72

The first combination began with the largest number added to the smallest number (Ex:
28 + 20 = 48), to find the missing number of the combination you subtract that total from 72 (Ex:
72 48 = 24). Then you add the next largest number and smallest number and so on. Continue
following these steps until you find the 8 combinations. Remember that each combination must
have three different numbers.

When all eight combinations are done, you determine the number of times each of the 9
numbers were used in each combination. When you have the number of times each number was
used in a combination, you can start plugging the numbers into the 3 X 3 matrix.

The number that is used 4 times in the combination will be the middle number. The four
numbers that are used each 3 times will be in the corners. The order in which you plug in the
corners is starting at the bottom right, bottom left, followed from the top left, and top right.
When you have the middle number and the four corners set, you add the diagonal numbers and
get a total of 72. To find the missing numbers, you add the two numbers given vertically or
horizontally and subtract that total from 72 Ex: (21 + 23 =44, 72 44 = 28). Follow this step
until you find the rest of the missing numbers. When the matrix is completed you have to add all
the rows, columns, and diagonals to make sure they all add up to 72.
