OVERVIEW
This program fell on a public holiday and the show had been pushed forward from the original anniversary air date
but in spite of this it received the highest 5-city metro ratings for 2017 thus far (808,000).
There was a surge of sentiment from our viewers online, most of who recalled the original program, plus a fair
number of younger viewers who saw it as a helpful history lesson. It also elicited a collective feeling of support for
ABC journalism in general and 4Cs in particular in these times of uncertainty, fakery, etc.
The beautiful B&W photos of the whistleblowers had a strong impact on social particular twitter -and the images
were a helpful way of converting what might seem like a political history lesson into something much more personal.
Because this fell on a public holiday I suspect our 0500 news story didnt get quite as big a reach and we might
expect. And perhaps due to the fact that News Online originally gave the story a pretty dud headline which Morag
quickly resolved with an email to Ben Atherton. (Which suggests we must come up with titles to our own stories
before theyre sent off.)

A few tweets from Tracey Spicer got a lot of exposure and there was a lot of sentimental feelings about Chris
Masters. I think we won back some of our police-friendly audience who were pissed off by Lindt Siege.
A solid performance on Twitter during broadcast, with our top two tweets below:
