Digital Downtime Contract
William A. Ederer hereby declares that on the days from Wednesday, April 26th to
Tuesday, May 1st, he will reduce his Digital Media Consumption to the best of his
ability, including but not limited to the following measures; He will:
Spend as close to 0 time on his cellphone as possible, and will leave it at home in
a drawer whenever possible; In addition, should he require his phone for parental
contact purposes, he will not use any apps other than those necessary for such
contact, including texting and calling
o Yes, Shindel, this means I wont be using Snapchat, Instagram, or
Facebook.
Use his alarm clock as opposed to his cellphone as an alarm;
Minimize home computer usage to the best of his ability, especially the internet*,
using these resources only when necessary to complete schoolwork and
independent study for the AP and SAT standardized tests, and to check his email
once a day**
o *He will under NO circumstances access the websites affiliated with the
URLs of twitter.com, twitch.tv, reddit.com, or facebook.com
o **He will, to the best of his ability, delete as many received emails as
possible and only respond when necessary.
Minimize classroom computer usage by closing Chromebooks when not using
and by only using the computers in BNC for things that are not BNC related
Completely cut out video game consumption from ANY device
Listen to no digital music, except to practice along with for Wind Ensemble (these
songs include Escapada by David Moore, Urban Dances by Erik Morales, A
Longford Legend by Robert Sheldon, Morceau Symphonique by Alexandre
Guilmant)
Watch no TV, Netflix, or movies on his own, although he may watch
movies/television with his family should they initiate the viewing process
Probably not listen to the radio, because he doesnt tend to anyways
Not use friends digital media devices, except when absolutely necessary (in
emergencies or to contact my parents).
Use his discretion to minimize any other contact with digital media or devices that
were not explicitly mentioned in this contract
