Commitment to Students and Student Learning developing as expected

I commit myself to students learning and engagement by recognizing different levels of ability, strengths and
areas that need to be improved on in my students. By doing this I can maximize student involvement and
achievement.

Knowledge developing as expected

I feel I have a firm grasp on knowledge of subject matter, curriculum and learning expectations as I have
been able to create effective lessons for my students. I am continuously gaining new knowledge from Mary
and others throughout my placement.

Teaching Practice developing as expected

I make sure to plan ahead by making detailed lesson plans and checking for all resources and equipment
before my lesson begins. I have been adjusting well to teaching in the gym rather than the classroom learning
several different strategies through reflection with Mary to improve classroom and time management. I
always try to motivate students by encouraging them to try their best and giving positive feedback.

Professionalism developing as expected

I always try to arrive early to make sure I have time to debrief with Mary and prepare for the day. I maintain
professionalism by respecting the school and people around me, while trying to be a positive role model for
the students.

Leadership and Community developing as expected

I am very committed to getting involved within the school community to build relationships with various staff
and students. I was able to help out with literacy test preparation, have been involved with Relay for Life
meetings, and am helping coach the girls soccer team. I am always willing to lend a hand when needed
and looking for opportunities to get involved.

Ongoing Professional Learning developing as expected

I am always open to feedback from Mary and other staff and always try to implement their suggestions into
my future lessons when possible. As well as receiving feedback, I always personally reflect on my lessons so
I can make goals for the future. I have been fortunate to be able to observe a couple of different teachers and
grades to see different teaching styles and class dynamics. Also, the school arranged a tour for the TCs to
learn about the variety of resources available to students. Mary has provided me with many resources that I
have been able to consult and look through to improve my lessons and have a variety of activities for my
students.

COMMENTS
Teacher Candidate's Growth Plan

I will continue to discuss planning and reflections with my AT to improve on my teaching skills. Specifically, I
will focus on being more assertive in the classroom when students are talking or misbehaving. From there I
will be cautious of waiting until the students are back on task before I continue so everyone is engaged and
understanding.

By submitting this self-assessment form, I agree that I have consulted with my associate teacher
