Content Standard Addressed: Standard 2: English language learners communicate information, ideas and
concepts necessary for academic success in the content area of Language Arts
Technology Standard Addressed: 1.Empowered Learner: Students leverage technology to take an active
role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning
sciences. Students: (a.) articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to
achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes. (b.) build networks and
customize their learning environments in ways that support the learning process. (c.) use technology to seek
feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. (d.)
understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and
troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.

the students as an instructional software that will improve their English language development. BrainPOP ESL
will take fourteen weeks to complete. Student learning will be assessed by quizzes.
The students will take a placement test when they first sign up for BrainPOP ESL and after they have
completed all activities. They will be able to compare their new placement with their previous one and see
their improvement. The teacher will extend the student learning to a higher learning level by having the
students create a movie on BrainPOP ESL and share it with the class, but first, they must present a summary
of their movie. The teacher will conclude the lesson by reviewing the quizzes with the students. The teacher
will provide feedback to the students via BrainPOP ESL after each activity and quiz. Also, the teacher will give
feedback in person by having the students turn in a checklist after completing an activity or quiz.
