EXPERIMENT 1

Aim: To design a spring using Solid Works.

Steps:
1. Create a new solid works document and select part design.
2. Select the front plane and set the view normal to the plane.
3. Go to sketch panel in the command manager.
4. Select the circle option to draw a circle.
5. Draw a circle of 35mm radius with its centre at the origin.
6. Exit sketch.
7. Go to features panel in the command manager.
8. Select helix and spiral command under the curves drop-down
menu.
9. Click on the circle to make the helix having 20 revolutions and
pitch of the helix being 20mm.
10. Select the top plane and set the view normal to the plane.
11. Go to sketch panel in the command manager.
12. Select the circle draw option to draw the circle.
13. Draw the circle of 2mm radius with its centre at one end of the
helix.
14. Exit sketch.
15. Go to features panel in the command manager.
16. Select swept boss/base command.
17. Click on okay option to exit the extrusion option.
18. Change the view to trimetric to properly view the 3D image.
