nephridia primitive; function as
kidneys

Earliest vertebrate
Class Agnatha- jawless fish; like eel
Lampreys & hag fish ( the only existing
now)
found in late Cambrian period
parasites to bony fish due to its suckers
Hagfish- ability to defend itself

Modern Agnathans : Lamprey and fish


paired fins are absent
presence of notochord both in larvae and
in adult.
