Parade Info On The Day
I am writing to let you know the details about the meeting and arrangements on
the day. Please see the table below of all participants this year alongside your
parade number.
On the day, please meet on the main strip leading in to the Lawns if you enter via
the High Street entrance at 10.30am prompt. Firstly, locate your name &
organisation which will be displayed & stuck to a piece of baton in the grass and
lead your party to congregate in that area. I will be coming round to each group
and handing out your entry number & giving information so please be patient and
make yourself visible. Once you have received your number it needs to be
displayed on the leader of your group so as the judges can identify you at the
presentation and awards.
Once we are all in place we will then set off on the parade at 11.15am, no later!
Each group must have a leading and trailing adult to ensure the groups are kept
together and no one gets lost. Please also introduce yourself to the group in front
of you to make sure you also stick together to ensure the parade doesnt become
staggered. The organiser is responsible for registering all members in the
group. The parade MUST keep together to minimise the time that the
roads are closed and you ARE NOT allowed to stop and perform. Anyone
who does so, may be disqualified.
If you are handing out leaflets or fliers, please make sure people take them from
your group because we want to keep litter to a minimum. We hope to be back in
the Lawns at 12.15pm for the award ceremony. You and your group must in the
main field area within the Lawns for the ceremony in order to claim the award for
1st and 2ndplace.
Please let me know if you are using a vehicle. Groups using a vehicle, the
vehicle can join your group in Wood Street but please make sure they know your
group number so they can join correctly. I must have the registration for the
vehicle in advance in order for the driver to enter onto Wood Street on the day.
We are only allowed 6 vehicles to accompany us in the parade and 3 of the slots
are taken already. If you require a vehicle you must send me the registration
number as soon as possible to secure your spot this will be done on a first
come first serve basis. Any unauthorised vehicles will not be permitted to enter
onto Wood Street.
There are no allocated car park for parade entrants: there are plenty of public car
parks in the Old Town area.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope you
have a fantastic day and best of luck. There are two prizes, first and second
these will be cups that you can keep.
