Lesson idea implementation:

After students have learned the basics of the Pythagorean theorem in a previous lesson, explain that they will
now create an infographic with everything they know about the theorem. It is important for students to fully
understand the theorem.

Brainstorm with the class about what students could include in their project. List ideas on the board. Also,
make a list on the board of all the items that must be included on the infographic: the definition of the
theorem, the formula, a picture of a triangle with each side labeled, the definition of hypotenuse, a sample
triangle, and the converse of the theorem. Students may include additional information as well. Students
must list their resources.

Using the web-based Piktograph tool, show students some examples of infographics. Demonstrate how to
create a new Piktograph using a template, and modify the template. Demonstrate how to save and share the
project.

Ask students to divide into pairs, open Piktograph on a computer or mobile device, and create their projects.
Move around the room to check understanding and provide feedback.

When all students are done creating their projects, ask several groups to share their project with the class.
Discuss good ideas and a-ha moments.

Duration/Assessments:
This lesson will take one class period. Students will submit Piktographs for assessment.
