School board revisits possible bond issue

A new certied teacher was hired for a
vacant elementary school position when
the Carnegie Board of Education met
Thursday.
Tonia Lodes, a former Carnegie educa-
tor who has been teaching in Weather-
ford, was hired for the vacant position
following an executive session.
The board approved the resignation of
Kaila Kinder as teacher aide. She has
taken a teaching position with Apache
Public Schools.
The board approved the rehiring of all
retired employees including Bruce Wil-
liams, Linda Holscher, Rita Sebastian
and Billie Fobes.
Other employee action included hiring
Amy Leighton as Encumbrance/Payroll
Clerk for the 2017-2018 school year;
hiring of Jeri Bumpass as they Deputy
Treasurer for the 2017-2018 school year;
and the hiring of Mary White for Occu-
pational Therapy Services for the 2017-
2018 school year.
The board revisited and discussed in
length the consideration of a 2017-2018
Bond Issue. Storm shelters, new roofs
and the replacement of the non-working
air-conditioning in the Memorial Build-
ing were all issues discussed before the
board made a motion to table any action.
The repaying of the General Fund the
money that was borrowed at the begin-
ning of the 2016-2017 school year by the
Child Nutrition Fund was approved.
The distribution of concession revenue,
Property of OPS News Tracker and members of the Oklahoma Press Association.
$9,943, for the 2016-2017 school year to
the Athletic account was approved by the
board.
Distribution of the Class of 2017 Funds
to the After Prom Fund, $1,475.15, was
approved.
The renewal of the Sublease Agree-
ment dated August 1, 2012 between the
District and Caddo County Educational
Facilities Authority for scal year ending
June 30, 2018 as required under the pro-
visions of the agreement was approved.
A Contract For Audit of Public Schools
for the 2016-2017 school year was given
approval.
The board approved a contract with
Britton, Kuykendall and Miller for the
2016-2017 school year for auditing ser-
vices.
A concurrent license with Odysseyware
to access all Odysseyware Courseware
was approved.
Travel stipends for High Schools That
Work Conference in Nashville, TN were
approved by the board.
Keystone Food Services will provide
breakfast and lunch services for the
school district next year as the board
approved a contract for the 2017-2018
school year with the company.
The district's Oklahoma School As-
surance Group policy for the 2017-2018
school year for $18,000 was approved.
Board members present were president
Cody McSperitt, Christi Harrison and
Mark Taylor. Travis Goergen and Gerald
Peters were absent.
