Bluegrass Music Festival We Robots

The Bradford Public Library
is sponsoring their 18th
Bluegrass Musical Program
on Friday, June 23, 5:30-11
p.m., in the Bradford High
School Auditeria.
There will be six bands
performing. This is an out-
standing line- up of bluegrass
groups, so dont miss it!
These fine musicians are
donating their time to provide
entertainment for the library
and area communities to
enjoy. This years event will
be a Tribute to Carol Coy,
founder of the Bluegrass
Festival. Mrs. Coy was a staff
librarian at BPL for over 20
years. In addition, Mrs. Coys
granddaughter, Morgan Coy
Ingram, will be the emcee,
along with her husband.
All the groups play at
local festivals and events.
Several of the groups mem-
bers have appeared on nation-
al music lists for perfor-
mances or songwriting. They
will have their CDs available
to purchase. The following
bands will be performing in
this order: Rum River Blend,
Showtime Grass, North &
South, Sugargrove, Berachah
Valley, and Rock Island Plow
Company.
A raffle will be held for a
variety of very nice items,
with more to come donated
by local businesses. These
businesses, organizations, and
individuals have donated for
this cause to help with the
expense of putting on the pro-
gram so that it is free for
all who attend. You
can stop in at the library and
get your tickets at $1 each or 6
for $5. Tickets will be also be
available the evening of the
show and the drawing will be
held toward the end of the
program.

Gettysburg Homecoming Festival
Fun to Include 5K Walk/Run
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 24, so you dont miss out on all the fun and excitement at the
Gettysburg Homecoming Festival!
A 5K Walk/Run, sponsored by the Village of Gettysburg in partnership with Friends of the Cardinal
Center and the Gettysburg Fire Department, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Cardinal Center, 260 E. Main St.
The course features a mix of town and country, with terrain suitable for both beginners and experienced
runners. The Walk/Run will end back at the Gettysburg Cardinal Center. Registration fee is $25. In the
event of severe weather, please consider your registration fee a donation to the Friends of Cardinal Center, Inc.
Divisions are 20 & Under, 21-30, 31-40, and 41 & Over. Male and female first place finishers in each
age division will receive an award.

Located at 260 Main street, The Cardinal Center was formerly a school. Built in 1921, it
served as Gettysburg's K-12 building until consolidation with Greenville City Schools in
1972. It was an elementary from then until it's closure in 2007. It is now the property of the
Village of Gettysburg.

Valley Echoes International Food Tasting Festival

Things go Better With Coke
I remember when our son, JR, was in the Navy. He would
ask his mom to send him a few dollars for Coke and
Smoke breaks. Of course, she always obeyed.
Im telling you this because this story is about Coke. Last
season on our way to Florida, we forgot to empty our refrig-
erator before we departed.
Did you remember to unplug the garage fridge, Ginger
asked.
By now, were halfway through Kentucky.
No I didnt, I confessed. But I think it will be OK.
Which brings us to Sunday, June 11, 2017. It was time to
clean the garage fridge. You see, when we returned home all
the soda we had in the fridge had exploded. It looked like
the Nile River turned to caramel.
Ginger was busy power washing out garage approach from
black to white cement. I decided to take on the Caramel
River. I took another peek, and decided to use a wet vacuum
to help me get this job done fast.
I gently applied the suction to the caramel soup, but nothing
happened. I then took my finger and touched the sauce. It
was hard as a brick. By now, Ginger is finished with the
power washer, and takes a look.
Let me do this, she demanded.
Thats OK, I got this, I responded. After a solid hour with
hot water, cleaning solutions, steel wool pads, and a lot of
muscle the job was completed by the duo. I have to admit
Ginger did most of the cleaning, but I put all the shelving
back into place.
This weeks bottom line: After this ordeal, Im not sure
either of us will be sharing a Coke in the near future. After
seeing what the Coke did to our fridge, Id hate to see what
it does to the inside of your stomach.
Just for fun, I googled things you can do with Coke.

An International Food Tasting Festival will take place Saturday,
June 24, 3-5 p.m., in the Hoffman United Methodist Church activity
center, 201 S. Main St., West Milton (one block west of S.R.48).
There will be eight countries represented Germany, Honduras,
Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, and the Philippines.
This event is open to the public and is Free oF Charge.
Come taste all the interesting native foods and enjoy the decorations.
A few of those taking part are representing their native countries. All
are invited to join us in sharing this fun and educational family-ori-
ented activity.

Program Set June 29 at BPL
"Glancing with the Stars" is a fabulous program presented by
two amateur astronomers, Paul Sullenberger and his son Eric. The
first part of the program, to be held Thursday, June 29, will include
visual multi-media and additional astronomical information about

the "heavens above." If you have any interest in the stars, planets, for over 30 years!
and astronomy you wont want to miss this event. Eric Sullenberger
teaches at Russia High School.
The program will begin at 8 p.m. in the BPL Community Room
and then proceed to the Y-Yard, across from the library, to actually
take a grand look through their telescopes.
There will be a make-up day if there is inclement weather.
