Task Board Activity:Word hunt Find an article from online. Find 10 words
from the text that help to summarize the story or article. Use these words to
write 2 paragraphs summarizing the article. Reflect in one paragraph.

THIS IS THE ARTICLE A critically Endangered hawksbill Turtle is being

nursed back to health after being found washed up on Northlands 90 Mile Beach
earlier this month.
It was exhausted, dehydrated, not eating and missing a flipper. While the cause
of the amputated flipper was not known, it appeared to be an older wound that
had healed well.

Auckland Zoo provided initial urgent medical attention before the turtle was taken
to the Kelly Tarltons Sea Life rehabilitation centre.

Auckland Zoo resident vet Lydia Uddstrom said the turtle had eaten at least one
piece of plastic, and it was unclear how much more it might have inside it.

Plastic was an ongoing concern for marine animals, she said.

Were getting more and more plastic out there and were going to be getting more
and more effects from it, and from animals that shouldnt be eating it, eating it.

The turtle was showing encouraging signs of improvement after its check-up today.

Once the turtles strength had improved, it would be moved to a larger oceanarium
to exercise and go about its natural behaviour with the goal of releasing it back into
the wild.

Yesterday was World Turtle Day, which aims to increase attention and public
support for their survival.

Work:This Damaged Hawksbill Turtle Has Been Washed Up In Very Bad Condition
This Is A Very Endangered Turtle. This Turtle Is Being Looked After In Auckland
Zoo They Found This Turtle Exhausted And Very Dehydrated And They Was
Plastic Found All Over The Turtle And He Is Not Eating And Missing 1 Flipper And
A Very Bad Worn,This Turtle Is Recovering Very Nicely And When He Is Healed
He Will Go To Kelly Tarlton's Rehabilitation Centre. This Turtle Has Ated At Least
One Piece of Plastic But They Haven't Identified Anymore Yet But They Are
Thinking That There Could Be Much More.

Reflection: I Think That This Disaster Has Happened Because People Have
Litter And Has Gone Through The Drains And In The Pipes And Then Into The
Ocean And This Turtle Has Eaten Plastic And Has Got Really Unwell And Lost A
Flipper.I Think We Should Take More Care Of All Of Our Underwater Animals And
Our Endangered Animals

Task Board Activity:WHATS WHAT?? Choose a story or article of your

choice. (Newspaper is ok). List 10 different words from the article. Now,
beside each one, write down whether they are a verb, noun, adjective etc.

THIS IS THE ARTICLE A British horse has swapped the race course for the
paint brush, with surprising success.
Metro was a successful race horse, winning around $436,000 in races at the
prestigious Belmont Park.

However, he was retired by his stable after bone chips in his knees caused
permanent damage.

The horse was then bought by Ron Krajewski in 2009, but in 2012 X-rays revealed
his knee joints were closing up. A vet said they would lock up within two years, at
which point Ron and Wendy would have to put their horse down.

I didnt just want to put him out to pasture and forget about him. I was thinking
about how we could spend time together, Krajewski says.

A professional artist himself, Ron wondered if he could convince Metro to hold a

paintbrush. He taught him to touch his nose to the canvas for horse treats, then to
hold a paint brush.

Metro was soon creating works that Krajewski judged were good enough to put on
sale at a local gallery. The first four paintings sold out the week they were put on
display.

Metros large paintings now sell for around a few hundred dollars.

Metros unbridled style has been compared to Jackson Pollock, a painter famous
for his splatter and drip technique.

Sales of the paintings helped fund a new experimental treatment for Metro. His vet
created a technique to apply a drug called Tildren directly to his knees.
