Sewol captain gets life in prison

An appeals court has raised Sewol ferry captain Lee Joon-seoks sentence to
life in prison.
The Gwangju High Court convicted him of murdering 304 passengers because
he left the ship, without doing anything to save the passengers.

Lee was only interested in saving himself instead of looking out for the
passengers on board whose safety solely depended upon the captains
instructions in such an emergency.

Lee claimed that he told crew members to evacuate the passengers,

however, there were no enough evidence to support his claims, as there
were close to no rescue efforts made.

Singer said he sees ghosts to evade military service

A Seoul court sentenced hip-hop singer Kim Woo-joo to one year in prison,
whom attempted to evade mandatory military duty by lying about his mental
health.

The singer was charged using deceptive strategies to evade and to reduce the time duration of the
service.

In 2004, he received his conscription notice and delayed it a couple of more

times, citing his continuing education.

When he ran out of excuses, he began to claim that he suffered hallucinations

and was seeing ghosts. He presented records of 42 fake visits to different
mental hospitals between the time period of March 2012 and May 2014, and
received a lighter military duty, as he wanted.
