Statement From Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-

The U.S. Supreme Courts reinstatement of the Trump travel ban is a sad and disturbing
reminder of the un-American polices being pushed by the Trump Administration. This assault on
the basic American principle of freedom and acceptance demonstrates that New York State must
step up and take action. Because of a false GOP majority empowered by rogue Democrats, New
York has been denied an opportunity to be a progressive beacon that would shine for all our
immigrant brothers and sisters. The Senate Democrats rolled out our Resistance Agenda this past
January with a series of bills to protect those beckoned by the words enshrined on the Statue of
Liberty- 'the tired, the poor, and huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and yet the
Republican/IDC Coalition has refused to act on any of these initiatives. The State Senate must
come back into session to deal with its unfinished business and must resist this dangerous
national policy.
