Some believe that it is good for a country's culture to import films and TV programmes,
while others think it is better for a country to have their own films and TV programmes.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some people support importing films and TV programmes, while others think that, to
their countrys culture best interest, having their own films and TV programmes is a
better idea. This essay discusses both views and I personally believe that foreign media
products will do a countrys culture a great GREATER favour. ch greater kh

On one hand, national films and TV programmes are one of the best ways to promote a
countrys image on a worldwide scale. For example, The Lord Of The Rings, a
monumental trilogy in THE film industry, has encouraged people from all corners of
the world to visit New Zealand, where the series was filmed. This has not only
introduced the countrys beautiful landscapes and sceneries to international audiences,
but also boosted the local tourism industry. Moreover, documentaries and war-themed
movies widely disseminate the relentless fights of our ancestors for national
independence, which cultivates a sense of patriotism to local residents.

On the other hand, in many multicultural societies, the need for imported films and TV
programmes is justified. Immigrants and international students can cherish their own
customs and soothe their homesickness through such media products, therefore
facilitate FACILITATING their co-living/CO-EXISTENCE in a foreign country. In
addition, films and TV programmes from other countries will create competition among
film and show producers. For example, Two Days One Night, a well-known Korean TV
show which explores numerous cultural destinations in Korea, has motivated the
Vietnamese TV-show makers to produce Hom nay di dau?, a TV programme with
similar themes and contents. This useful show helps the locals to know more about
previously unknown historical spots in their own homeland, thus makes MAKING them
appreciate more the cultural legacy handed down.
In conclusion, although local TV programmes and films have their own merits, I still
think, for a national cultures sake, it is better to import foreign media products.
