FORMATION
Formation is a race to reach the final stage by constructing images with given restrictions.
Each stage requires students to get approval of their design by the teacher and hand in
before been given an envelope for the next stage. Each students completed tiles are
collated on named tile sheets by the teacher which when completed can be handed back to
the student to show development.

STAGE 1 - No Rules
Restrictions:
- None
Instructions
1) Cut the black strip however you like
2) Construct an image with the cut strips on the white tile using blu tack provided
3) You do not have to use up all of the black strip
4) Your image must be recognisable (e.g. building, dog, boat, tree etc.)
5) Once you have constructed the image, raise your hand
6) Tell the teacher what you have constructed
7) They must approve your formation
8) Once approved, hand in your finished tile to move on to the next stage

STAGE 2 - No Leftovers
Restrictions:
- You must use up all of the black strip - no leftovers!
- You cannot overlap black strips

Instructions
1) Cut the black strip however you like
2) Construct an image with the cut strips on the white tile using blu tack provided
3) Your image must be recognisable (e.g. building, dog, boat, tree etc.)
4) Once you have constructed the image, raise your hand
5) Tell the teacher what you have constructed
6) They must approve your formation
7) Once approved, hand in your finished tile to move on to the next stage

Objective: Construct an image in the negative space using the black strips
Restrictions:
- You must use up all of the black strip - no leftovers!
- You cannot overlap black strips
- You must cut the black strip 10 times
- You can only make 45 or 90 angled cuts
- You must cut all the way through (see diagram)
- Your image must be visible in the negative space (see definition)
Instructions
1) Cut the black strip up to 10 times making only 45 or 90 angled cuts
2) Construct an image with the cut strips in the negative space on the white tile using
blu tack provided
3) Your image must be recognisable (e.g. building, dog, boat, tree etc.)
4) Once you have constructed the image, raise your hand
5) Tell the teacher what you have constructed
6) They must approve your formation
7) Once approved, hand in your finished tile
