1.5 DEFINITION OF THE MACHINE

The machine comprises drilling equipment mounted on a self-propelled crawler

undercarriage which has a maximum speed of 01,7 km/h.

In travel conditions (transport configurations) the machine can tackle gradients of up to

20 (approx. 36%); the machine can work exclusively in the configurations shown in
VOLUME 2.

The weight of the standard machine is 23500 which corresponds to a ground pressure
of 9,3 N/cm2 in trasport configuration and 100 N/cm2 in working configuration; when
positioning the machine for drilling operations ensure that the ground is stable for the
stabilizers to bear upon otherwise provide suitable auxiliary pads or mats as
necessary.

If it is necessary to work in the presence of inflammable gas (never in a tunnel) all

necessary measures must be taken to comply with the local legislation and
regulations.

The hydraulically operated stabilizers must be lowered before starting work to ensure
that the machine is stable. To avoid the risk of injuring persons that are not visible from
the control positions, before starting the machine the operator must make a visual
inspection around the machine and, if necessary, shout a warning to make sure that
there is no-one in its vicinity.

There are three separate operator positions:

a) at control panel A - [main operational controls]; this is the operator's position during
normal operations and provides engine start controls, monitoring instruments and
controls for drilling.
b) at control panel B - [setting-up], located at the side of the machine, it mounts
controls for auxiliary operations, i.e. mast positioning and lowering of outriggers;

1.6 PUTTING THE MACHINE INTO SERVICE

Before starting the machine and during operation, the operator must ensure that
climatic conditions (temperature, wind speed, etc.) are within the parameters set forth in
the field of use and/or in Chapters 2 and 3 of VOLUME 2.

WARNING!
All the control levers, described in chapter 5 Volume 2, must be moved
gradually from the 0 pos. (central-neutral) to the working pos. (right-left or
forwards-backwards) and vice-versa; failing this, malfunctions and/or damage
can be caused to the machine.

If the temperature is less than 0C, before starting, moving or transporting the machine,
it is necessary to ensure that:

- there is no ice on the machine, especially on the control panel and on the platform
for access to the movement control panel
- no parts of the machine are stuck in the ground (tracks, stabilizers, parts of the
mast, hose bundles, pipes, etc.).

To remove ice, use manual or mechanical means whenever possible.

Ice in the ground can be melted using a saline solution, preferably with warm water.

WARNING!
Use non-toxic products/additives to remove or melt ice.

WARNING!
Do not use open flames on any parts of the machine. Do not use saline
solutions near the electrical components and panels to remove or melt ice.

17
VOLUME 1 SAFETY INFORMATION C8-V1-1-ING

1.6.1 Moving and positioning

During movement of the machine from one part of the site to another, the mast must be
lowered to aa horizontal position, along the machine's longitudinal axis upperstructure
aligned with tracks.

IMPORTANT!
If the mast is raised and/or displaced the machine may only be moved over
short distances in order to adjust the final operating position between one hole
and the next (see Chap. 3 Vol. 2).

When the rig in being transferred over uneven ground, or is transported by truck, the
mechanical upperstructure anti-slew device must be applied.

Before moving the machine, make sure that control panel A - [main operational
controls] is correctly positioned and secured and that the stabilizers are raised.
Check also, especially when making minor setting-up movements and in the case of
special operating configurations of the mast, that the positions of hoses or hose
bundles do not create a hindrance.
When working on gradients, position the machine wherever possible so that it faces up
or down the slope not across it.
Do not change travel direction on slopes as the machine could tip or slide sideways.
If during travel the machine starts sliding sideways down a slope, the operator must
steer the machine downhill.
Any movement of the machine must be carried out with the operator seated in the
appropriate position to be found at the front right of the machine.

WARNING!
Do not attempt to move the machine while standing on the ground and
actuating the crawler drive motor controls.

11.1
Before moving the machine the operator must make sure that there
are no persons in potentially dangerous positions in the vicinity of the
machine; machine movements must be announced by sounding the
horn. If the operator notes that the horn is not working he must
immediately request a maintenance intervention.

18
VOLUME 1 SAFETY INFORMATION C8-V1-1-ING

WARNING!
Passengers must not be transported on-board the machine during travel.

When moving the machine, even over short distances:

a) disconnect auxiliary equipment (compressors, pumps, injectors, etc.);

b) disconnect any anchoring systems from the machine;
c) raise the stabilizers;
d) make sure that the gradients on the route are within the machine's capabilities (in
trasport configuration) (max. 20 i.e. about 36%) and that there are no obstacles or
level differences that could endanger machine stability while it is travelling;
e) when the new work position is reached restore all necessary conditions for the
correct operation of the machine.

If it is necessary to transport the machine on another vehicle, refer to the chapter

regarding loading and transporting the machine.

Before raising the mast, stabilize the machine by lowering the hydraulically operated
stabilizers (without lifting the machine) and make sure that they rest on a stable
surface.

IMPORTANT!
Check that there are no obstructions to raise the mast and to drilling such as
overhead electrical lines or underground pipelines.

If the machine is working near overhead power transmission lines, whenever possible
the power should be interrupted until work has been completed. Otherwise, observe the
following rules:

a) An assistant must check the distance between the equipment and the power line
from the ground. He must inform the operator if equipment is too close to the power
line.

b) The operator must pay due attention to signals and warnings from the assistant.

THIS DOCUMENT IS THE PROPERTY OF CASAGRANDE S.p.A.-TOTAL OR PARTIAL REPRODUCTION IS PROHIBITED

19
VOLUME 1 SAFETY INFORMATION C8-V1-1-ING

c) Machine travel speed and mast support structure movement speed must be
reduced when working near overhead power lines.

d) In the case of power lines carrying no more than 50.000 V, the minimum distance
between power line and machine equipment must be at least 3.5 m.
For higher values, the safety distance must be increased by 15 cm for each
additional 10.000 V.

e) Check local rules and if those are more restrictive follow them.

f) All workmen on ground must keep at a safe distance from equipment working area.
If the machine should touch an electric cable, the best thing for the operator to do is
to remain at a safe distance and to ensure that no one approaches until the power
is switched off.

The machine is not equipped with lightening guards because of its mobility during the
work phases. It is the site managers task to evaluate this risk and provide for lightening
guards to protect the entire work area.

Check the machine stability and anchorage, especially considering the possible
stresses coming from operations, applied loads, external agents (i.e. ground
settlement, strength decrease due to water infiltration, etc.)

Irrespective of the work configuration, the foot of the mast must be properly toed-in
against the working face, which must be solid enough to withstand the extraction
forces.

IMPORTANT!
Machine stability is assured only when the mast positioning diagrams shown in
VOLUME 2 are observed.

20
VOLUME 1 SAFETY INFORMATION C8-V1-1-ING

1.6.2 Start-up

WARNING!
If the machine control panel carries a notice to the effect "MACHINE
MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS - DO NOT START" the operator must refrain
from any action and request the presence of his superior.

At the start of each work shift check for the correct operation of the emergency devices
(emergency push buttons, wired safety device on mast ast), warning lights and the
horn, which must sound before any machine travel or movements of operating parts of
the machine.

The operational control panel protective A must not be removed except in the case of
special requirements that are not part of the normal operational procedures.

Before starting up the machine, or refuelling it, the operator must be sure that he has
understood and memorized the necessary sequence of relevant operations; if in doubt
consult the Instruction manuals, VOLUME 1 for safety information and VOLUME 2 for
operating the machine.

WARNING!
Refuelling must be carried out with the machine switched off and away from
naked flames. Do not smoke during refuelling operations.

IMPORTANT!
Do not overfill the tank. Risk of fuel spillage. If the machine is operated in ambient

1.7 SAFETY MEASURES FOR MAINTENANCE WORK

1.7.1 General regulations

As this is a complex machine, it is obligatory to perform all maintenance operations with
the engine at a complete standstill; this is necessary also before disconnecting any
elements of the hydraulic circuit.

WARNING!
Before each intervention the maintenance technician must stop the engine,
remove the ignition key and keep it on his person and place a notice to the
effect MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS - DO NOT START on the control panel.
This is the only way to assure that the machine is not started inadvertently
while the maintenance technician is in a potentially dangerous position.

IMPORTANT !
The soundproofed cowling of the engine compartment (one on the rear and two
on the sides) are equipped with a mechanical safety device that prevents
accidental closing. However, always check after opening for proper insertion of
the safety device and efficiency of the gas spring.
Do not leave the cowlings raised if there are any malfunctions.
During maintenance operations or when replacing components of the hydraulic system,
take care to avoid contaminating the hydraulic circuit with foreign material, or debris.
This could result in malfunctions and jeopardise the overall safety of the machine.

Except in particular cases, the maintenance must be carried out all the times with the
equipment of the machine in standstill position and after having released the pressure
of hydraulic accumulators.

WARNING!
Always wear safety gloves when performing maintenance work.

The products do not pose hazards for users, if used in the foreseen usage conditions
and for the use for which they are intended. However, repeated and prolonged contact,
if combined with poor personal hygiene, may cause skin rash, irritation and dermatitis
from contact.

First aid procedures:

- In case of contact with the skin, remove contaminated clothing and footwear, and
wash skin with soap and water.
- In case of contact with the eyes, flush abundantly with water. If irritation persists,
consult a specialist.

the lungs; call a physician.
- If you suspect that the product has been inhaled into the lungs (for example in case of
spontaneous vomiting) take the individual to a hospital.
- In case of exposure to a high concentration of vapours, move the individual to a non-
contaminated environment, let him/her rest and if necessary call a physician.

Any substance, in the case of accidents involving pipes under pressure and so on, can
accidentally be injected into the subcutaneous tissue, even without any apparent
wounds. In this case it is necessary to take the accident victim to a hospital as soon as
possible for appropriate medical care.

There may be cases when the maintenance technician must test the maintenance work
carried out or perform trouble shooting operations with the engine running or when
parts of the machine are in motion, and even during drilling.

IMPORTANT!
If maintenance must be performed while one or more of the machine functions
are operating, a series of important rules must be observed:
a) the operator at the machine controls and the maintenance technician must
be able to see each other so that communication is immediate and clear;
b) the operator and the service man must be one in front of the other so that
they can communicate easily.
c) the operator must act on the basis of orders given by the maintenance
technician;
d) before changing from a standstill condition to a condition in which any part
of the machine is in motion, the maintenance technician shall assume a safe
position and approach the moving parts only after he has ascertained that
his instructions have been correctly interpreted by the operator;
e) maintenance work must not be carried out unless the working area is
adequately illuminated.
f) the operator must have immediate access to an emergency shutdown
device in any situation.

Il manutentore deve essere informato della esatta funzione e movimento di ogni organo
della macchina.

pay attention to the dataplates and notices located on the machine (see figure page 7)

1.7.2 Special operations

When performing maintenance operations on parts or components of the machine

where there are elastic parts (e.g. springs) which may create an accumulation of
potential energy, it is necessary to take measures for its isolation or dissipation (also
see Vol. 2).
When cleaning the fuel tank or hydraulic oil reservoir or when changing engine oil, etc.
do not disperse residual liquids or cleaning fluids on the ground; these substances must
be collected in suitable containers for disposal in compliance with local legislation.
When the oil filters are changed they should be allowed to drip into a container to avoid
spillage.

IMPORTANT!
Use only non-toxic oils such as the oil supplied by Casagrande S.p.A. in the
standard machine outfit.

IMPORTANT!
The state of wire ropes and transmission chains must be checked at least once
a week; when necessary, renew these parts as indicated in VOLUME 2.

IMPORTANT!
It is advisable to compile a check card for each rope and chain showing the
date of the inspection and the signature of the person responsible for the
check.

Keep strictly to the indications given in VOLUME 2 regarding the methods of cutting or
connecting wire ropes to thimbles, shackles on clamps and to the method of installing
ropes on winch drums.

When working with wire ropes the use of suitable gloves is obligatory.

laws.
Lo smaltimento di batterie esauste soggetto a normative ecologiche.

WARNING!
It is highly dangerous to use flame cutting equipment or welding equipment on
pipes or receptacles that contain, or have contained, inflammable liquids. Such
actions are therefore strictly prohibited.
If in doubt do not cut or weld the part in question but in any case always wash it
out beforehand with non-flammable solvents (wear a mask during this
operation).
Do not weld or cut near points which could present a fire risk because of their
position.

Welding on the machine can cause damage to electrical and electronic instruments or
equipment if these are powered; before welding disconnect the accumulator from the
electric system by the isolator.

IMPORTANT!
Always connect the earth of the welder as close as possible to the point to be
welded.

1.7.3 Routine maintenance work

VOLUME 2 contains a description of maintenance operations together with an

indication of the recommended frequency at which they should be carried out ("hours"

If parts or components are separated from the machine, their movement must take
place through the use of an auxiliary crane.
Use the provided lifting points (ears). If these are not provided use slings, ropes, hooks,
etc., in such a way as to avoid falls and to keep the part or component stable
(balanced) during lifting.

IMPORTANT!
The auxiliary crane (or other lifting device), straps, ropes, hooks, etc., must be
suitable for the mass of the component to be lifted.

The machine can be loaded onto a truck or trailer by either being lifting or driving it onto
the carrier.

The machine must be configured as shown in figure page 32 :

a) horizontal mast resting on support A;
b) mast cylinder B fully closed;
c) mast cylinder B1 fully closed;
d) Put in the shape the control panel and must be secured by means of the pin C1;
e) apply the pin D for blocking of upperstructure rotation;
f) rotary head in fully forward position so as to assure a perfect balance during the
lifting phase.

If the machine is to be loaded by lifting, use the front lifting lugs O1 - O2 and the rear
lifting lugs O3 - O4 to secure the slings to the machine.
Check all the time that there are no interference between the lifting cables and same
parts of the machine.
The specifications of the lifting equipment are given in VOLUME 2.

If the machine is loaded by driving it onto the truck or trailer [control panel C -
'travelling'], the operator must make sure that the slope of the ramps is within the
maximum gradeability of the machine.
