The YMCA was founded by George Williams on 7 June 1844 -172 years ago in London, who was

typical of the young men drawn to the cities by the Industrial Revolution. This club was
established for the development of healthy body, mind and spirit and on Christians principles.

YMCA is engaged in a wide variety of charitable activities including athletic facilities, holding
classes to promote different skills, Christianity, and humanity. Hong Kong, India, Mexico,
Uruguay, USA and Venezuela. The universities offer a wide variety of course on different levels.
YMCA is a centre of community where friendship is formed and family ties are strengthened. The
various programmes of YMCA include.

Development programme for Children and Youth.


Health, Fitness and Recreation.
Childcare.
Day and Resident Camping.
Employment Training.
Community outreach and New comer services.
International level and education.
Leadership Development and Recognition.

Full member of the world Alliance of YMCA since 1891.

The international coalition of the YMCA University brings together universities from all over the
world including Brazil, England and Germany. It is well-known for its hostel facilities.

In India, Head Quarters of YMCA is situated in DELHI.


MISSION:
YMCA focuses on issues of youth, women and children. Its membership is open to all, regardless
of sex, creed or color. The Association is committed to democratic values of the country,
pluralism amidst diversity, justice and peace, equal opportunity, especially for the
underprivileged and marginalized, urged by the teachings and life of Jesus.

VISION:
The Vision of YMCA is to provide the highest standard of services and facilities to its members
without disturbing the surrounding environment and the neighborhood.
