What do you do at the weekend?
In this present simple teaching activity, students discuss their routines and explain what they
usually do at the weekend.

Before class, make one copy of the worksheet for each pair of students and cut as indicated.

Procedure

Tell the students that they are going to talk about what they normally do at the weekend.

Split the students into pairs and give each student a copy of the worksheet.

Tell the students to write their partner's name at the top.

Students then take it in turns to ask their partner what they usually do at certain times during
the weekend. Their partner replies by making present simple affirmative statements.

Example:

A: What do you usually do on Saturday morning?

B: On Saturday morning, I (usually) play tennis with my friend.

The student then completes the worksheet with information about their partner's weekend by
writing a present simple sentence in the third-person singular.

Example:

She usually plays tennis with her friend.

Afterwards, have the students discuss how their weekends are different from their partners.

When everyone has finished, ask the students to describe their partner's weekend to the
class.
