    Title :

    Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium Roof Collapse

    Objective :

    To write a report for Engineering Society subject about controversial issue on ethics and

    professionalism in engineering.

    Scope :

    In this report, we will cover about the introduction of the incident, cause of the incident, design,

    cost, and the action that had been done by the authorities to settle this problem. We will not

    discuss about the political issue that maybe sensitive to certain people.

    Background :

    Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium was opened on 10th of May 2008 for SUKMA 2008. It was

    launched by Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin. It was located Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu. The

    incident happened on 2nd of June 2009 nearly one year after the launched. About 60% of the

    stadium roof collapse including the roof above the royal box at the grand stand. These incidents

    happen approximately 9.30am that very morning. There were two witnesses of this incident;

    Mohd Zaidi Ahmad and Asmadi Hashim. Both of them claimed that they saw 270 million

    building collapse early that morning.


    Problem Statement :

    The main causes of this incident are the material used to make the roof. We will discuss these

    causes further in this report. We also will discuss about the design, cost and the action had been

    taken on the next chapter.

    Data Collection :

    There are several ways that we will used to collect the required data for our report. They are :

    a) Newspaper (The star, Malay Mail)

    b) Internet research (MalaysiaToday.com)
